I got this ECM from rockauto and I want to be sure it is correct and will work. So far I am having trouble getting a spark at the plug. Put the plug against ground to check and zero spark. Then led me to think of the ECM. Unless I can't check the spark in this manner. Thanks

Sorry forgot to attach photo.

yes, correct part # for ecm. it's the updated # from the factory 122-7148. It's the one I suggested you get.

Ok thanks Anthony. I didn't remember that but I did buy the one you suggested. Just trying to figure out why no spark unless I can't check it the way I thought.

ok thanks. What about checking for spark by holding plug to ground? Is this still valid on this type ignition system? I am going to check crank sensor wiring since I remember reading something about the factory wiring diagram being wrong.

ECM has nothing to do with startup spark. Cam and Crank sensor both have to be functional to initiate a spark. Two fuses relative to the ignition should be checked.

Ok so I found out I have spark just no fuel. After cranking it for a while I checked 2 of the plugs and they were dry. I did a continuity check of the wiring to the injector terminals and all seemed good to those. I have what I think is a good ECM and a stock 87 chip w/o calpack chip. I guess I need to look over the wiring diagrams more.
