Seems like a very nice product in construction. However, it seems there are some new product bugs, or maybe it's just mine.

The valve has hung open once. Removed the unit, saw nothing hinky and put it back on, the unit started operating correctly again.

Then the valve stuck closed. Pulled the line off the top and it started regulating back down close to spring pressure. And replaced the line to verify that the controller was not the issue.

Seems like the valve is getting stuck when it gets hot af a couple of brief blasts.

Just talked to Patrick, and he's got me covered. Good service makes everything better.

Maybe I was hasty in my diagnosis, don't know yet. This is what make me think so. After it happens I can disconnect the line off the top of the wastegate, relieving the pressure, and reconnecting it before I run it again. Then the boost drops back down to target. Sometimes it stays there, sometimes it jumps up. I am at 9 psi now and when it happens it will rocket to about 15+ psi before I react. So I need to figure out whats up before I get to real boost levels as this could be a nail in the coffin.

It's sporadic, sometimes it will maintain throughout the pull. Sometimes I have to be in it 4 or 5 seconds before it happens. Sometimes happens almost immediately.

I'm leaning away from the wastegate at the moment. Here's why... if it was the wastegate sticking I think it would remain around the boost it was holding instead of shooting up to 15-20 psi. Possibly either a sudden increase of PW on the increase solenoid, or maybe losing signal to the decrease solenoid. Not sure as I don't know much about how the boost controllers logic works yet. But I can't tell because there is a bug in the boost controllers datalogging function so I can't monitor what the wastegate solenoids are doing. There is a fix in the wings for that. For now it's hard to say whats happening until that happens. I cannot condemn either until I verify that it is not configuration or operator error. But it seems that if it was it would me more consistant in it's malfunction. I'll post back when I get somewhere.

This things is gonna fight me til the END. Freakin voodoo car.

That is a little weird.. Are you running much spring pressure on the gate?

Also, I did see a picture of the car the other day. I tried using those plastic air lines and ended up burning the one at the top of the gate off. Just FYI.

Unless for some reason the solenoid isnt bleeding, I dont know why you'd have that problem. We havent had any issues like that with the ISAC and we've used the boost controller on external gates on quite a few cars. Maybe the solenoid isnt bleeding. Can you take some pictures of the setup and email them to me?

I'll just post them here. I know the system works. But sporadically it doesn't. Without being able to datalog PW's I'm just guessing. The solenoid towards the fender is the decrease with after the T, whose line goes to the top of the wastegate. The other is the increase referenced by manifold pressure tapped into the back of the intake under the plenum.

John, I though the same thing. But have seen a few like this and also this stuff is used on every rig rolling down the highway. The air coming out of those compressors is HOT. My Raytech IR gun temps on the top of the wastegate was about 130 by the time I checked it after I pulled it back in the shop.

Please excuse my undone wiring.

ISAC.

Just talked to Jay, he asked how everything is configured. It is correct. I'll send him the ISAC log file and ISA file so he can verify though.

My hks gate may just radiate/conduct more heat than your PTE foe show. It made it down the road ok, but a handfull of high boost street passes, and the hose burned off.

Good luck with your diagnosis. At this point (if Jay doesn't find anything obvious), I'd swap in a normal valve setup to bypass the boost controller to see what affect that has. Could be any 1 thing in the system of course you know.

did you end up buying this car? or is this still a customer's car? looks very nice.

Yeah, I ended up buying it. And it was a customers car.

It doesn't seem to get extremely hot but I have not really put it to it yet. Ceramic coating helps.

I will try a valve. But this was literally the first time out with any boost I'd like to tune pound for pound. Easily, lol.
