I'm so pissed off right now... maybe some of you can learn from this... or give me advice
Myself and a "buddy" of mine decided to go in on renting a house. I started seeing the warning signs but I felt like I was locked in... my lease at my apt was up and I needed a new place.
My "buddy" from day one exerted zero effort into the house hunt. He organized no meetings with homeowners/property managers, did no research on costs like utilities, and so on. It was all left up to me.
Prior to this, he moved into my apartment for about two months because his apt lease was up. Things started ok but went downhill fast. It wasn't long before I had to continually tell him to do basic things like take out the trash and clean up after himself. He is of the mentality that if you don't ask him to do something he will never assume it needs to be done (wish I would have known sooner). So things like vacuuming, washing dishes, taking out trash, cleaning up after yourself... all have to be told to him
It gets better
3 weeks before moving from the apartment, he invites his "friend" who is a girl over from Sacramento. She wants to move to so cal and he asks if she can stay for a few weeks while she finds a job and an apartment. I stupidly said OK.
Moving day (3 weeks later)... she is still at the apartment, freeloading. No progress (don't even think she has applied for even 1 job) She said she would do her part to thank me/us for staying by doing the dishes, cleaning, cooking, etc while she was here. The whole time however, I would say she does these things less than 50% of the time and adds more mess because she is apparently allergic to folding her clothing and putting it away.
Anyway, back to moving day... a little background first... when he moved his **** to my apartment it was he and I moving his stuff to my apartment, done afterwork with a super tiny uhaul and up till 3 am hauling ass to get it done.
Things are different on my moving day. We have work at 3pm (we work at the same place) and I get up early and tell him I am going to pick up the truck. He was to drive it back while I dropped off the first months rent. The hope was to have everything moved before work that we needed the truck for so I could return the truck that evening. While I was away the logical thing for him to do would have been to start moving stuff to the truck.
I get back and this retard has gone to sleep! nothing has been done! Not only am I doing all the legwork for the house, but now, moving is falling on my shoulders.
The move was a story in and of itself. I ended up having to keep the truck an extra day because this dude was so lazy. I would say that it was an 8:1 trip ratio up and down the stairs.. my 8 trips to his 1 moving things to the truck
I am pretty livid at this point and make it clear that I think the guy is acting like an assclown
Up till this point, he had not given me a dime for the rent.. he was supposed to cut me a check for it. I put all the money down... then I had to ask him for a couple of weeks to give me a rent check.
Now, almost a month after the move, his lady friend is still living with him (he wont call her his GF) and is not paying a dime
Things get really good about a week and a half ago. He calls me "hey, mind if my dad stays with us a few days? hes looking to move down here and wanted to sort things out" im like *DING DING DING WOOOP WOOOP* warning siren "Uh, well, he is your dad so I cant tell you he cant visit you but if its more than a few days its not going to fly. I am not looking for another roommate"
His dad shows up, all 5 teeth, and a case of natural lite. You do the math about this guy.
At this point i am getting really pissed and I have it out with him and give him the ultimatum that his female is going to have to leave or start paying, and his dad is going to stay no more than 4 days... I also let him know that I think its ridiculous that a 28 year old man has to tell a 26 year old man to clean up after himself, pay his bills, do his chores, etc. He of course is unrepentant and acts like I am being an anal dick.
Now guess what.. his dad is still here (they left on a trip this weekend, thank God) and he wants to move him in. He basically is already moving in despite me telling my roommate that this isn't happening. I took a few days off of talking about it to him hoping I could step back and things might look better... less rent I have to pay, that sort of thing.
Now tonight it has struck me how insane I would have to be to want to live with this guy. I now have a 50 year old man (who brushed his teeth last in 1987) in my house that I have to tell to pick up after himself too! To top it off this ******* spilled red wine on the carpet while drunk.
I am writing this now because I think I've finally flipped. I went into the garage to relax and work on the car and saw a half consumed can of natural lite, his nasty flip flops, and my roommate left a mess of car stuff on my toolbox
I have gone above and beyond my last level of patience for this.
Anyone looking for a room in north county san diego? I'm kicking this guy and his whole entourage. **** them. I want a Nice clean house, I am super clean.
Clean, mature, adult roommate wanted.
any words of wisdom or empathy would be appreciated
