Another one bites the dust! I will post pictures of this one soon. This one was just going to be a sand and paint but ended up doing a bit more because it's my buddy's car. It's turning out pretty nice so far! 12 days of real work and it's based already. Of corse i got it early June but i only work on it two days a week, and it's been to hot to work in the heat lately, now that the heat has let up some i got back to work on it and got it painted today. Pictures in radome order.

Wow! Looks freakin awesome man!:D

Is that 2 stage? Did you wet sand or you just went straight to cutting with compound then polish?

Yep its a base coat clear coat system. I used Omni plus base black tint off the bank and Dupont AF 740 clear. Then after a week I wet sanded it with 1000 grit then 1500 and buffed the crap out of it. Of corse I have 4-5 coats of clear on it. The clear is only $48.00 per gal for me to buy here at work. The stuff works great and lasts for ever. We use it on planes here at work. I had about 20 hours in the cut and buff process. I still will do some more after the car is all back together.

You did a fantastic job, the pics aren't the greatest but you can still see the depth in the job. No other color when done to perfection could be compared to black. Like glass, thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Yeah cell phone pictures don't do it justice.

Just curious to what compound/polish/pad combo do you like? After you use the buffer do you use an orbital? You top it with a wax/sealer or do you have to wait for the paint to cure a little longer? Thanks!

I use the 3M coumponds....#1,2 and #3. #1 with a wool pad and a waffle pad for #2 and 3. All done with a standard buffer. I usually wait 60-90 days before i would put any wax that may seal the paint from letting the solvents out just to be safe.

looks Great!! do you do other colors besides black?:D

onefastgn, please talk with Royal-T-Ltd on painting his Gold car. I want him to have a new paint job on his car so that I don't have to keep my car dirty on future Power Tour's just so his looks a little better!:p

Lol! yeah i have another one from Detroit that just arrived that is going white pearl. I will start a new trend on that one soon. This one is going to look pretty cool when it's done. It's a Turbo-T that is white already, just going to do a little change to the color.

I'm tired of painting black anyways, looking forward to doing this white pearl one, something different this time. I would like to do a gold one if it comes my way down the line. I'm going to start to limit myself to just doing them in the winter time to have my summers off to spend more time with my family. Plus i plan on doing a blower one next year. It's going to be a sick one!
