Wheels- GTA / Trans Am
Pontiac GTA rim manufacturer: JWL (Japan Light Alloy Wheel)
Manufacturer info: JAWA | Objective
GTA rims were available only in 16x8.
The Pontiac GTA’s came fitted with these rims from 87-92.
GTA 86-88 are the non-dimpled 2-piece design.
GTA 89-92 are the dimpled 1-piece design.
The GTA’s are marked “front” and “rear”.
Front offset:
Front backspacing: 4.75”
Rear offset
Rear backspacing: 5.25”
Notes: It has been stated that the dimpled style is more desirable. The reason GM made the dimpled style was because the non dimpled style center hub was weak and was prone to cracking. In addition, 4 fronts are more desirable due to the offset.

If you run 12" brakes in front, rears will actually fit better than fronts, due to the 3/8" increase in track width per side of 12" brakes.
or …
If you plan on having the front wheels narrowed, for drag racing or a big/little look, the "rears" will work better if narrowed than "fronts".

NOTE: Set of Four FRONT GTA WHEELS 16 X 8" from the early Turbo Trans Am don't require spacers!

Gonna add one more for you Mark. Lower rear control arms off a 4th gen Camaro are the same as the G body. Have the exact same holes to mount the sway bar and the bushings need to be changed but everything else is the same.

Charlie, is this an upgrade? Like maybe boxed control arms or are they just a stock replacement U-shaped control arm? Also is this model specific like the 1LE camaro or WS6 TA? Thanks

Not an upgrade but mine were so rusted and I had a set in storage so I compaired them. Exactly the same except for the bushings. this is a stock replacement arm.

Under Hood and Trunk lighting
These are relatively easy modifications that you will get much use out of. If you do not have an under hood light, you can grab one from many other GM vehicles and add it to your car. Another addition, most A/G Bodies were designed to use them on both the left and right sides of the hood, depending on application. It is very easy to add a second light to the unused mounting area. The same goes for the trunk lighting, many cars were available with this, so adding this isn't very hard to add either. Another idea I've used: on some 80's/90's Chevy/GMC, Ford, Dodge Full-Size Trucks/SUV's, you can find the optional extending/retractable under hood light. They are not very common, but are usually found on the upscale versions. These are easily adaptable to add to your car's current under hood or trunk lighting and come in very handy at night. All were used under the hood of trucks, so they are often in rough shape. I added it to the rear trunk area where it was kept clean and dry and served me better. I haven’t come across one in awhile, but they are out there.

Monte Carlo SS Engine Compartment Lighting

Windshield Antenna

This eliminates the ugly antenna on the fender. On some earlier '78-'81 A/G Body's, GM did use a windshield with the cast-in antenna like their earlier kin. These are a real PITA to remove in the junkyard, but most good glass shops have them in stock. All '78-'88 G-Body's should have the antenna hole predrilled at the center of the windshield channel base/dash mount. If yours doesn't for some strange reason, you should be able to see where it is supposed to be and drill it.

Excellent tip. My '92 p/u had it, and I was shocked when I found my '04 came with NO underhood lighting, even though I have a well optioned truck. I just never thought it wouldn't have one like my old truck! I bough it for the new truck, but it would be just as well suited in the Buick.

Can we have a thread on which seats would be a simple bolt in for our GN's? I saw a 94 Roadmaster on Craigslist being parted out. Would the seats fit a GN? I've seen mid 90's Park Avenue seats in a GN and they looked real good.

I can recommend a part not mentioned in this thread. The front valve cover on 85 3.8 front drives has an oil fill hole and front breather access. You can use this valve cover for the passenger side of your TR and have breathers on both banks.

Stupid wiper sprayer part

I am trying to track down a couple of the tiny plastic wiper sprayers for my car. The nipple that the hose attaches to is broken and cannot fix it. Thanks 87PearlRegal

Go to the botom of the main forum page and look at the vendor section. Then you can go to his site and get the info you need. I believe his screen name is Bweavy but I may be wrong.

Front Fender Braces
The front fender braces are missing from the factory. They were installed from the factory on their G-body cousins the ‘78-’88 Olds Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Chevy Monte Carlo.
