A few months ago we took the freshly built stageII car to the local dynojet for some baseline runs. It was on pumpgas, 13psi, and for some unknown reason the Felpro wouldn't let the timing go past 14 degrees. We set the rpm cutoff point at 6,700rpm since it was fresh. Convertor was unlocked the whole time. It made 428rwhp and 518rwtq. We were pretty disappointed but the car was far from tuned.

I heard from one of the dynojet reps that the hp calculation on a dynojet gets thrown way off with a high stall convertor unless it's locked so I figured maybe that was a factor in the low numbers too.

Fast forward to today. We had all trailor cars with the slowest being a 10.70 car and one that went mid 9s. None were remotely street legal. Most were radical bigblocks that couldn't run on pumpgas. Most took a few minutes just to fire up and they would barely stay running on their own. To my surprise, no one made over 500rwhp, most were in the 400-460 range. All were autos with unlocked convertors.

I couldn't help having a huge grin as each one dyno'd knowing that the mild quiet little V6 made close to the same power in pumpgas tune and could actually be driven to work everyday if we chose to. This was the oldschool redneck crowd. They would've been in shock if we had the stage car down there with the convertor locked and some racegas in the tank. I guess this is kind of pointless but I'm even more impressed with these cars than before.

No. its not pointless, your just smarter than the rest of the people out there. Why did the felpro not let the timing go higher, can;t you just put the timing number in the timing map???

Next time who eveer can beat the S2 car on the dyno gets their dyno run free...........:p :p
