I just got back from the track. I was running 13-14.5 pounds of boost on American Racing Eagle Alloys 17'' chrome wheels with 275/50/17 nitto 450 street tires. I also did a no boost launch because when I left with 5 psi I almost hit the wall, lol. I also don't really have a tune on it except for adjusting my fuel pressure, tps, and iac. Therefore I put 112 race gas in there just to be safe from detonation due to our crappy 91 gas we get out here.

1st run:
R/T- .346
60'- 2.190
330- 5.960
1/8- 9.099
mph-79.34
1000-11.874
1/4- 14.209
mph- 97.44

3rd run:
R/T- .297
60'- 2.321
330- 6.098
1/8- 9.221
mph- 79.69
1000-11.975
1/4- 14.293
mph- 97.36

4th run:
R/T- .282
60'- 2.307
330- 6.074
1/8- 9.191
mph- 79.80
1000-11.939
1/4- 14.252
mph- 97.59

Another thing I would like to add is that this car got the most attention of any other car out there. I was also the only GN at the track today. I always constantly had 2-3 people asking me to pop the hood every 10 minutes. However, I hate that I ran it stock because the car is a "legend" as the announcer said, and he was hyping everyone up and I saw the people get on their feet to watch me. He said "Hey guys and gals, you better watch this grand national, it's gonna put on a show, trust me." As I heard that I was embarrassed, I wish I used window chalk and just wrote "BONE STOCK" all over my windows. After I ran the 14.2 everyone was coming up to me and asking if something was wrong with my car and I had to tell them that I was running factory boost at 13-14 lbs, and give them a lecture on why they can run so fast and blah blah. Also, on my 2nd run I was lined up against an SRT-4 and the crowd started cheering and getting on their feet again. So I was pumped up and ready to out launch him and take him. I stalled it and got about 5-6 lbs of boost but I made the mistake of slamming the pedal to the floor and I spun like mad and started to go sideways around the 330 mark. I was so dissapointed too, but the reason I messed up is because I was so pumped up that I forgot to focus on my launch and ended up with like a 2.5 60'. I almost caught him though, if only there was a little more track. Oh well, what a shame I guess.

Considering the boost you ran, street tires, and that it is nearly bone stock I would say not bad. Don't know why you would need to run 112 at that boost level though, probably hurt more than helped. If you have to or feel the need to run a street tire, at least get some drag radials. Those 60' times could come way down with a set of stickier tires as will the et's. Didn't see anything in your sig. about a chip but you have 42½lb injectors. Hopefully you have a chip to match them. If not, get it. Might consider a fuel pump too, didn't see that either. Check out the recipe page on GNTType.org, that'll put you in a good direction to back up that legendary status;) Good Luck

Those seem like decent runs, probably average of what most stock cars run at the stock boost level. With more boost and more of that good gas, sticky tires you should be a good deal quicker. Damn announcers getting everyone hyped up, but no doubt he had seen a modded one run before.;)

yeah, I know the 112 probably hurt but I didn't want to take a chance of knocking and detonating since I have no way to monitor that without a knock guage or scanmaster. I also forgot to put in there that it does have a 93 chip which is why I also put a higher octane fuel in, all we have is 91 and 112 was all I could find locally. And yeah, 17'' chrome wheels with street tires isn't what I plan on using regularly, I just didn't have the time to order 15'' centerline telstars with slicks or DR's yet. And I'll definately be getting a fuel pump from one of the vendors. I also agree that the announcer had seen some fast ones because the last time I was at the track it was with my Mustang GT and I saw 3 or 4 run high 11's and quicker all night, which is why I no longer own the GT;)

I noticed you only gained 18 mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4 - have you replaced the original valve springs yet?

No, that's another thing on my list that I haven't gotten to, being I've only had the car for a month. I was looking at that and I have to admit, the car spools and pulls hard but as the rpms climb it seems to soften up.

As I've heard around, the GN's stock from factory were running around 13.5 sec on the 1/4 mile. One contributor to the 14.2 may be the way high octane you were running. You actually loose power with higher octane gas. Its the fact that it is harder to ignite is what prevents pre-ignition. Under 15psi you should be perfectly safe running straight high test. I'm running on just premium grade pump gas at 15/16 psi with no troubles at all.

I would say that you need to get the thing tuned and then try again. There is no reason why you should'nt be able to break into the high 13's with the set up you have now. I ran a 13.8 with a bone stock turbo-t with over 200,00 miles, radials and all and the motor was never touched. Still had the nylon timing gears in it and worn out valve springs. Get everything set corectly, turn up the boost a few more pounds and give her another worl.

Don't feel bad, you now have a shakedown pass under your belt. It looks as though the car is running pretty good. My first pass at the track in my GN was in the high 15s. It was all out of whack. Next time I was up there I had her in tune and she ran high 13s to low 14s. Next time I had some minor mods, scanmaster, 116 octane and a race chip and ran 12.8s. All I can say is learn to tune!!! There's not much to it. Getting really good at it is a different story.
