Quote: I'd be happy if someone offered 15k for mine.

If this guy comes up with the green, you may get your wish:D .

The only reason I'd think of not selling, is that I don't know if I could replace it (as is) for 30k.

clean low mi. CA. 87 GN with nice int. is at least 15k.
show quality coler sanded paint 7-8k.
New motor,AC trans,rear end ?k
plus all the other cool stuff on it?k

How bout it, I know it would cost me well over 30k to reproduce what I have now.

Show me the money...I say take it then buy two. Or buy one and have lots left over.

A few words on collectible car value, especially turbo bricks. I have played with high performance cars, motorcycles, and firearms (generally handguns) virtually all of my life, and I have found the following generalizations:
Things are original only once, but can be rebuilt or refurbished a thousand times.
Original pays the most, doesn't matter if it is a car, motorcycle, firearm.
Museum quality and / or no use is # 1, everything else, even # 2 is way behind in real money values.
1 in the hand is worth a hell of a lot more than 2 in the bush.
Real world people don't play the game of "Just checking, I'm curious how much it's worth." Nor do they play the game of "Well, how much is it worth to you." Both of these scenarios are about the same as playing monopoly.
If it sounds too good to be true, naturally it is, don't even ask.
How much that you have invested / spent on an item is not a good indicator of how much it will bring. How many people want your car and how bad they want it is the only indicator.
Be very wary of people who act unknowledgable about these cars and then ask what is your car is worth. I got to play that game in the Lake Forest Jack In The Box this morning. After the conversation was over, I had the distinct feeling that the person playing lame was better at this game than I was. Not a good feeling.
You have a nice turbo brick, motorcycle, firearm and want top buck?
Ok, strip every piece of aftermarket equipment off of it and replace it with original equipment. Don't tell the person looking at buying your car, and sell it seperately later on. Lie about modifications. "Huh, never been modded when I owned it"
Don't post anything on line that you will regret later on, such as: any issues, problems, malfunctions, drag race episodes won or lost, curbings, carcheck / carfax issues. Don't go on line posting "My buddies GN lifted yesterday and I am just asking questions for him to help him. Yea, right.
Definitely don't get caught lying or being anything less than 100% honest, truthful, and complete. I just had to lose interest in a car that I have had an interest in for 3 years due to a less than honest, less than full disclosure reseller. I had looked into the car when it was for sale the 1st time 3 years ago, and I know what the responses should have been from the new seller.

If you don't sale, give him my name.

Ditto....

Like you stated, it’s a tough choice. Keep a close eye on the car cause we all know about the famous story where the tow truck pulled up in a guy’s driveway in the middle of the day and stole his car. Now this guy knows where you and the car is...hate to have something bad happen....

But if he roles around with the cash...sell it and get that GNX you want, you only live life once...why not?!

If he calls you back with the 30K in hand, sell it. It's a damn good price. If not, locked it up in your garage and keep and eye out. I do the latter if I were you, cuz I smell a rat. It seems like this guy knows nothing about the value of these cars.

 If you want to step up to a GNX fine but I know a guy who bought his GN new did some mods. and just sold it for 30 grand a few weeks ago and he is already missing it. Think about it, his would run 11's, what can you buy new for $30,000 that runs like that and looks nasty and will only go up in price. I would not sell mine at this point and I did not buy mine to make a buck or I would of kept it stock which we all know is no fun.:D

There is more to life than making a buck and I don't know how clean yours is but if so you may have a problem finding another.

I took 2nd at Bates against you. SO my vote is that you sell it so I can win first . hahhahahaha:D

Seriously, for that kind of dough I'd probably sell. If you sell it I'll sell you mine for a low, low price of $25K :p and you'll have $5k left over to do more mods...

Or you can send him my way... I'm a few hours down the road.

It will never stop  It's a damn drug! LOL

Mike,

You have a bitchen car and your workmanship is top notch. To put this in perspective though I would gladly sell my T-Type (not as nice as your car) with the low 10 second stock block and all the B.S modifications as well as the Stage II on center motor I'm currently building, another Stage I block a Big Stuff 3 engine management system and the rest of my Buick crap for $30K. Anyone interested? PM me for details.
