Just got her, i posted a few on the wanted side and found the one i wanted less then 10 miles from my house. let me know what you guys think, no leaks, Few blemishes and just awhole lotta car. Time to call that lizard and find out how much insurance on this beast will be. So Just wanted to say hello and show you guys my new toy. just under 100K on the clock and interior is in good shape, no tears on the seat but one on the drivers side carpet floorboard. Let me know what you think, i would prefer some stock GN wheels, it's an 87.

also suggestions on taking car of her. the guy i bought it from runs denatured alcohol to the intercooler and has a box inside by the drivers knee. Haven't figured everything out but i'm really ready to cut her loose and see how she does on the street vs some of the local guys who always want to ag you on. i know most people that want to challenge you aren't really ready for this type of car but as i've seen on some posts pick your fights and since i'm almost 40 then this won't be my daily driver it's more like my " oh yea you want some car "

cool beans...whats it have inside cockpit for scan tool?, i see alky setup under hood

knock gauge? scanmaster? other goodies from the mad scientist?

the box is prolly the alky control knob? perhaps?

SMC pump control, boost set at 22 lbs and it has 4?lb injectors or something close to that. you have to forgive me, i'm not a real serious gear head but i'm working on it. Figured this would help out alittle, thought about getting a vette or notchback but hell those you can throw a rock and hit 10 before it stops. The motor is stock as well as the tranny, recent rebuild about 20k ago. So i'll be on here weekly if not daily just for advice and chit chat. I guess it'll be a learning experiance and i'll appreciate all the input on this in advance.

the guy mike who either owns dukes in fort worth or runs it for his father. nice guy and it was his personal so i figured he wouldn't put crappy parts on the car. I need shocks and an alarm on it so i don't have to worry about it. Mike at dukes is a cool guy, he initially wanted 13 but came down to the 10 that was my limit. I think it was a good buy, i figure with others i see out there on the market it would have atleast been 10 or more before i got any other car to this condition. Any suggestions on shocks? the rear need to be replaced.

Nice car as suggested get a ScanMaster also i see no boost gauge and find out what chip is in it alky is a plus just don't let it go low at 22psi of boost you will damage it. As far as insurance you may wanna check out Grundy or Hagerty hopefuly you have a garage permiums a resonable and it's agreed value welcome to the dark side and your wallet will be a little lighter now good luck with your new car

thanks what would be a reasonable price for a scan master, just off the top of your head. labor intensive? and i'll find out about the chip here in a few days. gotta let the engine cool down. I'm not one to burn the tires out just to show off but it's hard not to try and not break the speed limit. Car seems to wanna go and go. The boost gauage is under the radio but the 2nd slot is open so i'm considering a temp gauge since it has dummy lights and i hate those.

2 wires going to what? power & ground? doesn't sound right, i'm sure i'll figure it out. I'm sure there is alot i need to know about this car but it will come with time.

It's three wires. Power (get power from the fuse block near your feet), ground (attach it to a metal screw under the dash) and the wire that you stick into the Data connector terminal.

READ READ READ before you start hammering on it or you might be on here a lot more than you care to.

i will, now i have to because i know i don't want to screw this thing up. of course everyone wants to take it around the corner and who knows. I may think it's too much car for me and sell it. But as of now it's here and i'm keeping it. I know it's a learning process so eager to know how to and what to do and not to do. thanks for the info.

i have seen that by reading all the posts. seems like there are guys on here who know alot. I'm looking up the SCM inside the dash. I know it's got plenty of power on this setting but i'm wanting to tone it down alittle. Don't get me wrong i love the feel of it taking off but i also want to know what i'm doing before i do anything to it. The owner told me it's set up to ride street but could come down some. So I'm in no hurry to buy new tires after i smoke these up. I'm sure there will be alot of time for me to truely understand what this car represented back in the day and that's just plain old RESPECT.

Man, I was just like you when I bought my 87 limited. I knew NOTHING! I read and listened to everyone that had faster, cleaner, and better cars than I did. I wanted to sell it sometimes because I thought it was the ugliest color but I found it was one of the rarerest. So dive in and learn all you can. ASK ASK ASK even if its the smallest and simplest of questions. Cause if you dont, you could be picking up the crankshaft off the pavement. These cars are basicly a woman. if you dont take care of them and treat them right, they can throw a temper, have PMS, and leave you in a world of hurt. So When you do treat her right, and you smoke the new Z06 beside you, knowing how much he spent and what you spent, the smile on your face while you look in the rear view mirror is what your car is all about.

You should come out tomorrow to Redline. Guys in our local club have a race meet tomorrow. Some of the guys there are from your neck of the woods and could become very valuable to help you on your ride.
