I would still mod the crap out of it. I don't care about the "next" guy who owns the car. Living for today, stock is boring and though I appreciate a stock car I wouldn't want to own one. If I bought an 86 the first mod I would do is put an 87 grille on it.:D

Bought my GN with 4700 miles on it BUT the original owner already put a 9" rear in it and aftermarket wheels and I didn't get the original parts with it so no guilt here about modding it.

Did u buy it to drive or look at it . I bought a perfectly stock 42 k mile car . Drove it like that four five years . Like you I have friends and family with fast cars . Last winter I ordered my parts and put them in .i haven't looked back since . I just didn't go crazy . I have seen some modded gn cars . They start to move to far away from original gn . It's yours do what makes you happy . My friends will not call me out anymore . Some advice stay off the highway with a vette . When he catches up to u its all over

i am already thinking about the future value of my car and have all original parts on a shelf. i have only done what is needed to make it drive wirhout knock and stop safely. i even kept the original tires and airfilter

if i want to go super quick i would sell my car and purchase the 9 second car. i would never attempt to super mod my car, just not worth it. would cost me a bunch more than 15 all in not counting the motor i would grenade on my way there.

First things first. You need to read this article on spring cleaning: http://www.gnttype.org/maint/basics.html

Then you will need to buy a scan tool and learn to tune.

BTW - Is this a joke? Several years ago someone posted a joke about porting heads by dumping sand in a running motor. Being that the original poster of this thread has not checked back in I am skeptical.

I say you mod the shit out of it, add LAMBO DOORS TO IT, put some 22" on the rear and 15" up front and drive it like a PIMP !!

I purchased the car at a good price and it is like new inside out. I would have paid the same price for a car with 40k miles.
My budget is about 15k.
I prefer a gel battery in the trunk for moving some weight back and out of the hot engine compartment. I live in Phoenix and batterys have a short life out here. lol
Oh, this will be a daily driver. Will never see the track.
Could be 204,000 and budget of $15.00:confused:

I did some mods to my 87 but most of them were done because I feel it's what GM should have done on the factory floor! I still have ALL the original parts and can go back to stock fairly easily.

That's my man Tbone!!! He's a good OL' southern boy. A really good guy. He has helped my build out more then once so far.

Hey fellas,
I think we scared the shit out of the OP. He hasn't posted since page 1. Either he is reconsidering or still trying to interrupt Tbone's post!!! Hahaha
No way in hell you throw 15k at a 4k mile car.
Trust me...I've thrown over 20k at a 14k mile car...and still can't quit. Should have bought a modded car to start.

I think in its day someone came up with the label of FBI chip and sold it that way
All I know is I have paperwork that it was installed in 1989 and by whom and invoiced

What exactly are the parameters of the chip I don't know bit if someone is local to me we can figure out what programming was done
All I know is compared to my turbo tweak chip the FBI chip is more aggressive and responsive
The turbo tweak idles better but less power
Ok

I love this forum. We all post thinks that are crazy or makes us fell stupid every now and again at least I do. But win it all comes down to it we all just love these cars. Live and learn and will figure it out win our pockets are empty. Mine stays that way. I took my last 30$ to buy lug nuts this week and they sent me the wrong dam ones lol next week.
