Any one purchase / install one lately? Nice piece but 42 beans is a little much for a plate, two springs, two gaskets and they don't even supply longer bolts. Do we reuse the stock length bolts? I am worried about the threads not engaging as much and being aluminum makes it that much worse.
Thanks

Boy you did get ripped! I use the Melling steel plate that comes with bolts and gasket for about $10.00.

In typical KB fashion it is overpriced, but I don't know where else to get the same plate. The Melling, etc plate is just a new wear surface, it doesn't reroute stuff like the Ruggles design. If it doesn't require some cutting on the oil pump cover, it's not the same thing!

Paul, if I remember correctly I initially reused the stock bolts, although I switched to some new ones at some point in time, not sure if they were longer or not though. If it worries you, maybe a trip to Home Depot or similar is in order?

there should be allen headed longer bolts in the kit. Someone screwed up when they sent it.

That is what I thought should have been in the kit. I will see what kind of email response I get.
How long ago did you order yours tc86gn?

Did you do the relief cut out on the cover with a die grinder or a milling machine?

Hmmm, there certainly weren't any allen headed bolts in the kit when I got mine, although that was about '95 or so.

Paul, I cut the passage in the oil pump cover with a Dremel tool, it was real easy.

I got mine about 2 years ago when I was gathering everything I thought I would need. I decided against installing. It was a fresh build and I got all the pressure I needed from a stock setup w/new front cover. Mine is sitting on the shelf whenever I feel the need to install it. It does come w/longer allen headed bolts. It would have to come w/longer bolts or you run the risk of stripping out the holes because you can't get ahold of enough threads. Especially with the aluminum cover.I would Give them a call and make them send you the right bolts.
