Yes. But in areas where temps don't get above freezing for weeks on end or longer, this poses a problem.

Mark, if you find a coating that works, let me know. I hated having to stop in at a car wash and rinse out that crap on my Jeep.

look up my location.. i know all about temps not getting above freezing for weeks or even months..
unless you drive thru a lot of snow banks or something, snow packed wheels are only an issue for a day or two at a time after it snows. just knock it out as needed and be on your way. but it will melt out of wheels relatively fast just from driving... of course, i've never had (and hopefully never will have) anything with 20" wheels on it, so i can only guess what kind of effect having that much extra mass that far out from the center of the wheel will have on the balance..

20's with snow in them will shake your fillings out of your teeth. Seriously, not talking an annoying vibration but actually to the point of having to get off the interstate and taking local streets.

We've been having MN type snow here in CT this year and WAS barrelling thru snow banks during the past 3 BIG storms we have had here.

The 20's are stock on my truck.

go to Dodge and complain about how much their POS vibrates when you hit some snow.. maybe you'll get some free car washes or oil changes or something..

also, i can't recall the last time i've seen a newer truck that wasn't an extended cab.. your truck almost looks goofy to me without it..

Well thanks for the compliments. I think extended cabs especially with long beds look goofy. I am in the truck by myself 99.9% of the time so why haul around the extra weight and length?

I nice set of OLD school steel rims & Baby moons should cure the problem. or just drive the GN :D

16's won't fit that truck. The brakes are too big. 17's will fit and are plentiful. The standard 265/70/17 size is stock on many of those trucks and those tires have come down a lot in price. If I had anything on 20's i'd get me some winter wheels and 17" snow tires just for the blizzard action. Tire selection is EVERYTHING in the winter.

Exactly! I would NEVER buy an extended cab. They are ugly and goofy looken! I had a friend buy an extended cab last year and as soon as he brought it home he turned right around and went back to the dealer and told them he wanted a different truck. It had a long bed too which looked terrible and he couldn't even fit in his garage. Unless ur hauling a bouch of crap around or have kids and need more room I just dont see the point.

not sure but would a spray bottle filled with anti freeze help alleviate the snow sticking issues.

Go to an outdoor power equipment dealer that sells snow throwers and by some spray they sell.

SRT is overated as well !!Plus its a Dodge:biggrin:
Whaaaaat?!

Well, the SRT Ram may be a bit overrated. If Dodge had gone with AWD on it, that thing would have actually been able to launch nicely. :D

You should know being in North Dakota for a while!
No doubt about that. It suuuuucked!

Even a day or two can be a PITA. And yes, the 20" wheels add to it. Mine would get bad enough that anything above 50 MPH would shake like a mofo.

Have lots of family in North Dakota, Minot, Bismarck and Garrison areas. Don't know how they do it. Been out there plenty of times during the summer but never in the winter. My grandparents (RIP) had plenty of money being successful wheat farmers and could have retired to anywhere they wanted but stayed there their whole lives. Both made it to their mid 90's.

i wasn't ripping on your truck-just pointing out that i have seen precious few regular cab trucks that are less than 20 years old. every pickup up this way is either an extended cab or crew cab and 99% of the time is 4wd. actually, i can't remember the last late model 2wd truck i've seen..
so a regular cab truck looks goofy to me..
personally, i think trucks are supposed to be the regular cab/long box configuration merely for the utility of the 8 foot bed compared to a 6.5 foot bed for hauling stuff. i also think that if you are gonna get a truck, it might as well be a 3/4 ton and 4X4 just for the added capabilities, but that's just what fits my vision of what a truck is supposed to be used for. extra bonus points for old fashioned manual transfer cases and manual transmissions, too.. some people only want or need a 1/2 ton 2wd short box, and some people like the convenience of push button 4X4 and an auto trans...

Yep extended cab long bed (real Truck) :biggrin:Just busting your balls Mark who cares what truck you drive , still a cool truck.

Silverados

I prefer the 2008-present Silverado Ext cab, short bed truck.

I thought about getting the crew cab version but the bed is way too short.

The reg cab long bed looks great but if you want to haul people you're limited. I have a 5 yr old so it's nice having the extra seating w/ the ext cab.

IMO the Silverado Ext cab, Long bed looks goofy to me. However, The crew cab Long bed dually looks badazz. That's what I'd like to have but don't have the coin.

Basically it comes down to what you are doing with the truck. To each his own.:)

When I was looking for a truck this summer to replace my poor old aging Blazer wasn't sure what to get. I have a friend who has an 04 Hemi reg short bed 2wd truck that has been lowered and liked the styling of it. He had good luck with it so that is what I wanted to get for myself. Unlike him though I wanted 4wd with the manual shifter for the transfer case. (electric ones always seemed to be a problem with the GM vehicles I have had)

Found this 04 with 31K on it for a good price so I grabbed it. Being black with the chrome 20's was a bonus to me anyway. Sort of matches my GN. Put a Magnaflow 3" single exhaust, JBA y-pipe, cold air kit and a SuperChips tuner and good to go. Not doing any off road stuff with it, just need the 4WD as I HAVE to make it into work in bad weather no matter what.

Haven't had time to do my PAM cooking spray experiment with the wheels as we are getting hit with another 2 day extravaganza of snow, sleet and ice here in CT.

HEMI rams are over rated IMO....

Just have to chime in on that one! LOL
They sure are...screw the hemi, you need this in a Dodge :D Oh and for the wheels Mark, you just need to invent some heated rims :D

C'mon, Mark. A couple of your exhaust cut-outs, a little fabbing of the tail pipes with a y pointing to the wheels, a flick of the switch and snow is gone.
