Ok, I just added an ATR ram air kit and the car knocks like crazy above 3/4 throttle. I know I need a Walbro 340 and adj. regulator, but is that kit moving that much more air that it goes lean??? I had never heard knock before but it didn't sound healthy at all!

The stock fuel pump sucks, so this is completely possible.

What chip? boost? do you still have a cat?

Make sure your wastegate hoses are in good conditon.

I'd double check the wastegate hoses. You may have a deteriorated hose and be making 20lbs. of boost. That was my problem.
S.

Check to make sure you didn't mess up the maf hose/pipe. If it lets in air that the MAF doesn't see, you'd prolly go lean.

If he could hear the knocking over the sound of the turbo with a cold air kit  thats a lot of knocking:eek:.

hmm, I guess I'll be checking some hoses tonight...on the other hand...if I'm making 20lbs of boost maybe I'll leave it alone! I do still have a cat..but it is damn near dead (rotten egg smell after semi-hard acceleration, but I have the stock everything except for the ram air kit and a 9 year old ATR exhaust that is hurting pretty bad. Thanks for the help!

Your gonna leave it alone???
20 lbs of boost?
pump gas??
old cat???
trying to kill the car, are you??
do you have a scan tool?

WOAH!!! I was kidding about leaving it alone!!! I am assuming the noise I heard was knocking. When it got in higher RPMs and both boost lights were on (digital dash) it seemed to "hang up" and it made a horrible sounding "clank clank clank" and it went away when I let off. If that is knocking, I gots lots of it! Don't worry, the fuel pump is on the way and I'm looking into wastegate hoses too. I might "relocate" the cat....hmmm parts bin...

Certainly do not get on it again until you have the pump in and hardwired and a scantool. You are begging for a blow up!

Dude, do yourself a favor, don't go WOT again without a minimum of these things:

1. fuel pump
2. FPR upgrade
3. Boost gauge, factory one is garbage. You could be overboosting and not even know it.

and preferrably a scan tool.
AND CERTAINLY don't play with the boost until you have a scan tool. You should see a max of 15 lbs until you can monitor things. All these guys talk about it, and it's true. I got my scanmaster last month and learned a TON the first week I had it.

If you can hear the knock, it is WAY TOO MUCH!

Well, I semi-fixed the problem....the car is in the body shop getting painted so I can't get any more knock for 2 weeks! In that time, I'll pick up a 340 pump and a regulator. Rick Pikowsky...if you read this...can I come by and use the scan tool around the 20th??? Let's get this thing rollin!
