it was good seeing everyone today, rafael, nordy, ray, reggie, rick, pete, wicked, luis, beto, meanchicken, jeff, armon,if i forgot someone sorry we represented the buick community to the fullest today with a nice crowd and laying some good numbers down on the track despite having some issues with pipes and rubbers;) congrats on reggie for getting his 9sec slip today now its time to upgrade that prehistoric up pipe of yours.

There's more there for Reg too. He let off early. Congrats again Reg.

9.97 @116 !!!!!!!!!!

Reggie went 9.97 at 116 mph,
up pipe blew off, (again) ( thats what you get for having unqualified help)
also exhaust pipe was not where it belonged! LOL
just think if that would of been a full pass,...... 9.50??
Jeff was not having a good day, so I'll just let it go at that. ( did run 147mph)
Donnie looked superb, sounded good, and was pretty consistent, and his car was running good too ! LOL
Ralph ran 11.18, 11.22, so was consistent, and looked good!
Armond was troubled by by water leak, so did get any runs in,
was a lot of fun to see all again,
and Luis brought out his loaner car, ha ha ha

To say I was pretty consistent is being too kind. The recently installed delay box was screwing with me on a couple of the passes.

This is what occurred on one of the passes, which happened to be the first round of eliminations. Luckily the other guy red lit.

I was staged and released the transbrake button on the first amber. The delay box counts down and turns on the nitrous. Soon after that, the delay box releases the transbrake. What happened next was not supposed to happen. A split second later, the delay box shuts down and restarts with no input from me. The way I have the box programmed, when the delay box is first powered on, the transbrake solenoid is energized. Since I was still in first gear, when the box reset, the transbrake solenoid energized, and the car acted like it had neutralized. I thought oh, oh. Something just broke. Turned out the transbrake locked the trans up and stopped the car before it could get started. Needless to say, I am beginning to have little faith in this delay box.

The second and last round of eliminations for me, everything went according to plan. The launch was straight and level. Felt real good. Didn't see anyone beside me so I pulled back on the throttle before the finish line. I figured for sure I got him. Didn't even read the time slip. Got back to the pit and out of the car and asked Cheryl, "I won, right?" She replied, "NO YOU BROKE OUT!" What! I let off! I broke out with a 9.28 to a dial in of 9.36. The 1/8 mile time was 5.88. This was with a 24 psi boost tuneup. Where the heck did that come from? After studying the time slip, it looked like I was quicker on the 60 foot than earlier in the day. Drats!!!

This is the point where one should stop and thank a couple of guys that have helped me get this car into the 9s.Those 2 guys are Rick Percy and Jeff Rand. I can't tell you how many hours these 2 have spent cussing, discussing and bending wrenches in my driveway and shop. If was not for there help I would have given up on this deep dark hole a long time ago.THANK YOU BOTH FOR ALL THE HELP OVER THE YEARS

REG

with a bit more tuning and finding the small bugs that are holding you back you should be in the 9s in no time

Good to see ya'll and meet a few more of you for the first time!

Sorry I didn't hang out more, but had other plans for the afternoon, so I bailed with the Camaro (yellow/black 69 and red/white 73)buddies I rode in with at 12:30 right after Donnie's first run.

My Cmaro buds were running in the mid 12's/high 13's, when they usually run in the mid to high 11's. One was on street tires (his slicks went bad and hasn't found a new set yet) and neither was squeezing, so....watching all the faster ...much faster...cars go flying by kinda hurt their feelings.

I told them there were some V6's around that they could try and beat up on.....but they didn't fall for it....:D

Hey Ralph....low 11's on slicks?
You were going easy...right?;)

If not....until you learn how to launch all that torque....next time I catch you stalking me and my Camaro through a parking lot...I just might give you a shot, esse.
:D

Lee, once I fixed the battery (thanks to my donor truck) and the powermaster (I can't believe I had another pressure switch tucked away in the car) it wasn't such a bad day. 9.5 @147.7 with a 1.58 sixty
Reg congratulations. You need to get the AMS boost controller. I noticed on your run (and also mine) that you got some spikes of 26#'s of boost but it was not for the entire run. I also have the same problem. The boost controller with CO2 will solve that problem.
Jeff

I don't know if anyone else could hear the announcer when Donnie lined up for his first run, but it was kinda funny.

Not word for word but the paraphrase goes like this....

"This is a Buick Grand National....I don't know much about these cars other than they have a small displacement 6 cylinder...a 231 I think...and a turbo. They tend to be a little slow off the line:rolleyes: , but then after the 60 really take off. I bet this one will do at least a 10.5."

Then Donnie launches hard and rips out a 9.38 'er somethin...and the next thing the announcer sez is...

"Well...he proved me wrong...."

Yeah I heard that it was funny when donnie launches and he's like wow!!

I heard about the same thing from Cheryl and Don when I got back to the pits. Wish I could have heard it.
