I cannot get powerlogger to communicate with the car. Had my laptop cleared and software reinstalled. I have reflashed. Have the latest Powerlogger software. I'm no computer guy.:D

I downloaded the software from the turbotweak website. It's possible that the powerlogger doesn't know I am using windows xp and I can't find where to tell it.

You need certain files in order for PL to work properly with the usb port on Win2K and WinXP. These usb driver files should be included with the PL installation software. They are grouped into two directories: "2000 and XP" is one of them and "Win98" is the other. The first time you run PL, then plug in the usb cable, Windows asks you for the location of the Driver Disk. Point it to the "2000 and XP" directory. If I remember correctly, Windows asks twice for the driver location, so browse to the same directory twice. This installs the correct drivers.

When I downloaded the software online it didn't ask for any drivers. Guess thats the problem. How do I fix it?:(

Just to be absolutely clear ...
1. DO NOT plug in the usb cable to PL.
1. Unzip and save the driver files to your desktop (from the link Rick provided).
2. Run the PL program
Note: You can put a shortcut to the program on your desktop by right-clicking on the PL.exe file, in drop-down menu pick Send To, then click on Desktop (create shortcut).
3. Now plug in the PL usb cable.
This is when Windows should ask you for the location of the driver files. If it doesn't, its because it thinks it already has them. This is more complicated to fix but can be.

Tried it. Didn't work. I then deleted powerlogger from the computer and tried installing the older version from the disk. Still didn't work. Never asked what version of windows I was using. Good grief!!!

Didn't work. I have the drivers showing up in my powerlogger file. When I try to "monitior" computer says com port error. Also the link posted was for windows 7. I have xp if that matters. I just don't know enough about computers to do this. I guess I need to stay under the hood and away from computers. One day my wife is going to want her laptop back. It has windows 7 and works.

pick a different com port then

What typed of window are you running is it a 32 bit or 64 bit window xp?

I picked com ports 1-5. Nothing!! Not sure on the bit. I will have to check when I get back home.

This is just bothers me. I can do motor installs. Trans installs. And I can't get a laptop to work!!:D
