OK, older guy chiming in here,
I was very very close to having to much up to tri focals

Been wearing glasses since high school
I had a rather difficult and experimental (at the time 4 years ago) proceedure done called "mono vision". Some contact wearers have their lenses made for mono vision.
I had astigmatism in both eyes, AND was far sighted
Basically mono vision is that one of my eyes was lased for near vision, and one for far.
Turns out that it came out perfect!!!!!!!!! I now see slightly better than 20/20.
The brain automatically compensates and uses whichever eye it needs for the distance being viewed. One never knows the difference.
BTW, the only immediate post surgical discomfort involved is tenderness if you happen to touch your eye lids when closed over your eye ball. That can hurt but only lasts a few months. So keep your hands away from your eyes
If you have a reputable person doing the procedure, you'll love the results. Virtually instaneous great vision. And the best part was it kept improving over the months following!!!
