You can get the 87 maf at alot of parts stores , but the inside of the maf in smaller then the factory 87 maf. Your car should run alot better with the right maf.

My guess would be that the maf and that high fuel press is kill the cars performance.

New MAF

Well, installed a new MAF today. Picked it up at a local warehouse. Was told it is a rebuilt GM unit, by Cardone. Seems to work okay. Lowered fuel pressure to about 40 psi with the hose off. Seems to get a little knock over 17 psi boost on 93 octane, goes away when alky activates but otherwise, seems to respond much better than the old MAF.

Feels like the tranny is slipping more than ever before, worst in the 1-2 shift, seems to take 3 or 4 seconds to actually complete the shift, which is DESTROYING performance, I imagine. 2-3 shift is loose, but not nearly as bad as 1-2. Maybe replace the bands and add a shift kit...? (tranny cooler prolly wouldn't hurt either)

Next step is to try again with the T-Link connection, maybe the old MAF was just incompatible with the program...don't know.

Well, thanks everyone for the help, looks like I'm on my way, hehe!

Glad to see you got the maf , maybe the tran is killig your performance who know's these cars are crazy. Did you check the exhust leaks yet this will really kill your cars boost. Dont worry your car is a fast car you just have to find it in the car.

I think they give use these problems because they want to see if we will keep them.:D

good luck

Believe me, I have had some thoughts about selling it, but who am I kidding, I'll prolly be buried in this car, hehe!

Haven't checked into the exhaust leaks yet, mainly because the stock headers are cracked, and it just sounds like a pain in the *** to have someone weld them up again (and probably expensive, too). I will most likely save up the money over time and just buy new headers, x-over, and downpipe for it and be done with it. Looking at Poston's headers, any suggestions?

I still run the stock headers they cracked and i welded them up real good , all around the pipes by the flange and any weak point .

They work great ever since . If only all these hot air guys lived a little closer we could help each other out a little more.

If you lived a little closer i'd pull them and weld em for yea , free. Maybe you should move to md or maybe i should move out of baltimore:D

This car before purchase allowed for data record... this was pre conversion. Then after conversion a sync was not possible either with tlink or OTC. A few cleaned up connections and yet another ECM syncs were possible.

We need to reverify it wasnt operator error that last time out ;)

Things that are "off" or suspect:
Front suspsension - needs corrected while there isnt ice on the ground.
Trans - this needs fixed next. Figure out the tuning issues and the extra 50-75HP is gonna kill it off.
Fueling. Its all over the place. WOT fueling is NOT verified and needs to be.
Grounds - not sure if they are on the head like the I/C cars but need verified "wherever"
Header leaks - this can be a performance killer but doesnt have to be. Lower on the "list"

I had a some other crap to write but Im tired. Keep in mind ALL of us that last day slowed down. I lost 7tenths/7mph over my best. Brian went from 12ohs to 13's. Traction sucked.

He he, sounds like a deal to me!!!!
What type of welder is required to do this? Is a wire-feed about the best thing to use? I assume an arc welder is a little much, huh?

Wire feed is cool thats what i used on mine and it works great. I got a lot more power when i fixed mine .
