I must vent. I decided to remove the bodyside moldings last weekend and opened a can of worms and maybe my headache will save you one. I took the molding off the left fender and really liked the way it looked, but the paint needed a little wet sanding due to the difference in the finish. Well, long story short the results were pretty nice, so I did the whole fender, but there were a few fine scratches so I got out the compound and managed to cut through the paint and down to the primer.
Luckily, I do work at a bodyshop, so after everyone at work got done calling me a dumba$$ for attempting to wetsand my car in the first place, my painter agreed to spot paint where I had screwed it up and a couple other spots as well. The morale to my story is if you're standing in your garage and looking for something to do to your beloved ride, be sure you know what your getting in to.
