Let's say you're following someone going 15mph in a 25mph zone and you want to pass. You enter a passing zone and exceed the limit by only 30mph effectively changing your speed to 55pmh in a 25mph zone to complete the pass.

According to those who vote to acquit this behaviour is appropriate. It's never legal to go 55mph in a 25mph zone....unless you have red/blue flashing lights on your roof.

Don't get me wrong, although I think you are guilty, it still sucks. Nobody likes to get caught speeding. Almost everyone does it sometime, but everyone should be prepared for the possible consequences when they do. You gambled and lost....it's as simple as that. It's like putting your hand in hot water then getting pissed off because you got burned......it was bound to happen sooner or later.

No, I didn't gamble. I passed another car, and I exceeded the speed limit in the process, just like everybody else does that executes a pass. The car I pass was going under the speed limit when I passed him, and sped up as I initiated the pass. Exceeding the speed limit in this case wasn't only expected, it was necessary. The amount over the speed limit is the real issue. And the factors contributing to that are the facts that it was downhill and the car accelerates briskly.

I wasn't speeding just for the sake of speeding. I was speeding in order to get around a slower car that sped up as I was going around. If anything, the driver of the other car is the one who should have been issued a ticket.

Now if I were speeding for the sake of speeding, and got nailed, I would plead guilty and pay the fine ( as well as increased insurance rates). But in this case, I did what was necessary to safely pass another vehicle.

What if he'd sped up more?, say to 70, how fast would you have gone to pass him?. 85-90?.

You could have waited for him to turn off to go his own way. You were in too much of hurry to wait, and broke the law.

BTW, over the years, I've gotten my fair share of tickets, and when I broke the law, just paid the fine.

How many times have you broken the speed limit, and not been caught?.

I guess I can't add. That's what I get for multitasking.
