The first shift kit in my car was an Art Carr whick was great. When I took my transmission in to be rebuilt the owner of the shop talked me into a Level Ten shift kit. He was experienced with turbo Buicks and said that the Level Ten was a much better shift kit. The Art Carr seems to be well known, but what about the Level Ten? Anyone have any experience with it?
Thanks
Chad

I wouldn't...

Piss on Pat Barrett of Level Ten if he was on FIRE!!!!!!!.
That is all I will say. In fact..... Nuff said!.:(

you would probably be happier with a kit from some of the companies on this f
forum.do a search.here is some info on ours.
SHIFT RECALIBRATION KIT #24RSRK/A $129.99
The main focus of this kit is to reduce clutch and band slippage common with the factory hydraulic calibration. This easy to install kit includes all the necessary parts to recalibrate the hydraulic circuitry of the GM2004R transmission for high performance street and dragstrip usage. This is accomplished in many ways.New .500" TV boost valve, and .296" intermediate boost valves and a heavy duty pressure regulator spring significantly raise transmission mainline pressure to increase clutch and band apply pressures. A new AC/DELCO seperator plate is properly orificed to increase the flow of oil to the friction elements. Re-engineered springs for the accumulator valve, line bias,1/2 accumulator ,and 3/4 accumulator, and an updated 3/4 accumulator piston introduce a throttle sensitive accumulator and pressure rise system that meets the demands of high output engines. This reduces friction element failure and excessive heat build up during and after ratio changes. This kit allows the shifts to get shorter and firmer as the throttle is opened, resulting in clean ,positive gear changes at small throttle angles without the "bangs and clunks",and short firm shifts with larger throttle angles. Most kits do not have this feature engineered into them resulting in brutal part throttle shifts that beat and break internal components as well as generate many new drivability complaints.Hundreds of these kits are in use and this kit is recognized as the best of its kind.includes all the necessary gaskets and instructions. Please note that high performance applications will benefit from the use of a larger intermediate servo to multiply the clamping force applied to the intermediate band.If your transmission is not from an 86 / 87 Buick Grand National or 89 Turbo Trans Am which was factory equipt with a high performance intermediate servo assembly, the use of a high performance servo assembly should be considered. The following 2 kits include intermediate servo assemblies.

Yeah, I have level 10 kit, in addition to a few other things, like the Art Carr billet servo. I NEVER felt it shift. Always a quart overfilled when at the track, never more than 2k miles between "services", and I doubt it had 20 passes on slicks, somewhere around 10k total miles. I'm NEVER putting another level 10 kit into anything....Put Drag Radials on last week, and the trans is shot (REAL bad slip in 1st, almost like neutral between 1-2, and 2-3), I'm not saying it's just the level 10 kit, but it has something to do with it and the factory top feed filter. Mind you, this is the same tranny that went 11's, at least for a while.... Going to be saving up for a while to get a "built" tranny from PTS, or at least a bunch of fancy parts from one of the vendors here to put into it;) When there's over 500ft.lbs. at the tires, you can't expect just anything to survive:tongue:

i also bought a car with a level 10 tranny with 20,000 miles tranny is shot.i am also not impressed with them because there is NO signs of abuse "rubber in wheel wells"
