Life expectancy?

I pulled my trans to put in a different, not new, torque converter to get me by for the summer. Upon removing the old one I noticed the splines in the front pump have started to twist/wear. How much longer can I expect to get out of this?

I'm working on being able to afford a new trans, but need to know if this is on it's last leg, or can I make it a few more miles.

That's the stator support. You can remove the pump assembly and replace the stator support. The replacements have heat treated splines and won't wear. The support is held on by 3 bolts with a torx 27 head. The support needs to be installed perpendicular to the pump mating surface. It's nice to have a lathe to check it in.

Yep, very easy to replace the stator support. Just be sure to make sure you replace the pump gasket or you'll be leaking. If you dont want to spend a bunch of cash, you can probably find a really really cheap stock stator support off the board. Not sure how much the hardened ones are but I wouldnt spend the money on that right now and just save for a good trans.

When you remove the pump make sure you drop the pan and remove your TCC solenoid BEFORE pulling off the pump assembly. Otherwise you will snap off the end of the TCC solenoid.
