lifter noise

i have a 84 ha t-type.i pulled heads off to put new 100psi springs on now i put it back to gather and it has vary loud lifter niose and ildes bad.please help. thanks

when you did the springs did you remove the lifters? also are you sure the rockers are down tight? did you check to see if the springs you put in aren't shorter but some stupid chance?

did it start ticking off the bat or later if it happened later it probably ate the cam

i left the stock lifters in 68,000miles on the car.it was ticking from the start.i ran it for 5min thought they would pump up.

pulled intake and valve covers.cam lobes good but when cam is on flat side the push rods have lots of slop.lifters are pumped up.i used fel-pre head gasket #8723 pt-1.
