Dale Cherry and Alan Witter have both run this class years ago.
Since you have to run the smaller tires now the most you would need to do is notch the frame.

Alan's car is sweet. He still plays with it.
The OEM frame is gone in the rear of his car.

Very, you will need a 7.90 car to compete. You can run a back half car and you will need to in order to take advantage of the wieght break. Which you definitely need to be competitive. The class was real attractive to Buicks a few years back but now it seems like it would be very difficult to be competitive.

Alan still has the inner frame rails in the stock location (with an aftermarket 4 link). Dave Koeppel runs this class too with a Turbo T/A, you are allowed twin turbos on a V6 now.

You can notch it all the way to the inner rail

Isnt the record right know for the class 7.97. what is the weight brake .what does the car have to weight . I guess i better get a rule book. thanks guys though....

As per last years rules

Turbo V-6 2800lbs
Minus 100lbs for the large body car.
Plus . 27lbs for the sheet metal intake
Based on last years rules 2727lbs.

You can run up to twin 76s or a single 101MM.
As of last year you need to run a real 10.5 non W tire.
This is no big deal you run them on a 12inch rim and it won't be a problem.

This years rules should be out next week!

You can run a full back half car in NSCA LS

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION
Chassis - Front framerails must remain in the stock location and may not be altered for the purpose of providing tire clearance. Tubular crossmembers are permitted. Back-halved combinations are permitted. If the stock frame is notched, it must be reinforced in a manner acceptable to NHRA/IHRA. Any strengthening members may be added to a stock frame. Front-wheel-drive conversions are permitted provided stock firewall and stock-type front suspension is retained.

Rear Suspension - May be aftermarket 4 link, ladder bar, or modified stock suspension. Wheelie bars are acceptable, maximum allowable length is 55" from axle centerline to centerline of wheel.

I wish the class still required a stock inner frame rail. The class has really gotten a lot faster this year. My engine builder has a Top Street car they debuted last season and we have a twin S2 TA motor going together for this class that should make it out next year. I may make a few races next year and plan to at least make the Quaker event. My car is way to heavy to be competitive. Mike Modesto and Bill Travato seem to be the guys to beat in the class and are pretty consistant 8.0 cars with the top guys 8.20's or better. I am waiting to see what happens for next year they are changing a lot of things around. If you are planning on building a car for this class I would wait and see what happens.

A 274" twin Buick has to be 3150 add, 100# for a dry sump and take 100# for 87 G-body.

A 252" motor can wiegh 2900#, which I feel the the 250# is more beneficial than the 22 CI.
