Well, I just tried out my new pressure gauge on the 200-4r in my z28. Here's what I got: (comments welcome) :cool:

@~1100rpm (needle was pretty wild at 600rpm idle in gear)

P/N- 105
1- 185
2- 190
3- 105
4- 105
R- 178

(on the road)
-didn't have the time to get accurate gear readings, but
@WOT
~180-200 psi (I think I saw it jump over 200 once)
@1/4
~140ish
@1/2
~160ish

Should I see any pressure change when I switch the lockup control on? I think I might've noticed a very slight needle jump. I've been getting no lockup rpm change, I assumed it was the clutch.

You can get WOT tv pressure without driving on the street. All you have to do is pull the TV cable all the way out in every detent. Just a helpful hint that keeps the cops away.

I will let the gurus diagnos your pressures though.

WOT

Yeah, I gathered that from some old posts I read on it. Thanks for the tip though. The main reason I did a test drive was just to see how the pressures were doing in a real world road test. Wouldn't the rpm of the converter affect the WOT pressures though?

In D or O/D at idle it was fairly steady, not much movement, but in low or 2nd it bounced around a lot. I'm guessing that was cavitation, mainly from the large cam.

Could be a little higher but..

You are ok. Not a problem there. Put two clicks more TV in it and see what it does:D

TV

Ya know, I'm glad you said that, I was thinking of trying that same thing myself yesterday. The reason I have it where I do was late 3-4 shifts. Where it's at now it hits 4th at 60mph or just above it. Shouldn't it want to shift up sooner at low throttle?

I'll back it up 2 clicks and see what the pressure change and 4th shift point is. It'll have to wait til saterday I guess, going out of town on a job today, won't be back it tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks...

New Results

Ok, backed the TV two notches in, and got slightly higher readings:

(@1000-1500rpm)-didn't seem to be much change in that rpm range...
P/N- 120
1- 185
2- 190
3- 120
4- 120
R- 190

WOT still was in the 180-200 range, and it didn't want to shift into 4th until at least 65mph, even low throttle.

loosen the cable or the overdrive shift will be late until the governor catches up and exceeds tv upshift oil.as long as you have full tv at wide open throttle the pressure will be 190 / 200 psi which is perfect.
