No I'm not looking for anything at the moment. Just a general statement.

Would it kill you guys that are looking for or selling big parts to post your location in your ad? I see it in almost every post that contains big parts. That's the first question. It's just common sense.

Mmmm… WHY exactly?? o_O If someone is interested in something I have for sale, they give me their zip code and I get a quote for shipping…and if I want to buy something, it's the other way around…. Seems pretty simple to me.

Makes sense to me too! Would cut out alot of the"Where are you located"responses.

Well not everybody wants to be bothered with shipping big items?

Ever tried shipping a hood or a quarter panel? It's not fun and often not worth the trouble of the wrapping up the item to make sure it will arrive safe. The trouble of having to bring this large item to a shipping terminal somewhere distant. Or waiting around for a few hours for the shipping truck that may be picking up the large part.

These are some of the reasons why people may not want to be bothered to ship large parts.

So 2 weeks ago I have a guy who wants a dash pad and I take all kinds of pics. Tell him it's probably $75-100 in shipping but I won't know for sure until it's wrapped up which will take me a good hour plus all the needed materials. Told him just get a FedEx account that way he can just pay me and he can just pay for the shipping to FedEx and we can just get this deal done and I won't have to perhaps wrap something for nothing incase I was way off on my shipping guess. So I wrap this dash pad up and apparently the guys broke and i wasted my time wrapping it and the materials involved plus more importantly my time. So other people it may take longer than it took me to wrap it because I had the necessary stuff. But what if you went to source the wrapping materials and your shipping place was 20-30 minutes away then just to find out that you had your time wasted?

So these are some of my reasons why people should just post their location

WHY!!
because if i know where you are i have an idea what it may cost to ship or have shipped to me or i can find out , and depending on where you are what may seem like a deal could turn up costing close to new
how fkn hard is it to include your zip in an add to avoid the million questions and subsequent shipping qoutes to buyers who want it but vaporize once they realize a dash , header , trans , block or intercooler wont be cheap to ship with shipping easily over 100 and some buyers are just ignorant of the costs and then act surprised (disappear) when they find out its not going to be 10 dollars

and while on the subject other boards have adopted some simple rules but here guys do as they please and it just makes it harder
ads should include..... a pic of the part , the price for the part and the parts location ..oh and it should be available at time of post to be shipped not this when i get to pull it nonsense that goes on for weeks
if those simple things cant be included the ad shouldn't be posted or should be removed

I agree. I brought the no price issue up a couple of months ago, and I was called a socialist by another obnoxious member.
First time in 13 years I've used the ignore feature on this board.

i use ignore almost on a daily basis

I sold something last week, price included shipping. After paypal is sent, I find out the fella is only a few blocks from where I work. We coulda had a cash deal, no paypal involved if only I had posted location.

people wont be so quick to jump in line first if its posted they are 3k miles away?
I wouldnt bother if that was in the original post and its a large item.
I think its a good idea.
