Ok, here's the situation - I have rebuilt tranny [200-4r] w/ 9x11 PTS Billet 3200 converter - My trans drives terrible. I used to feel like torque convertor is locked or trying to lock after highway cruises, at first I thought it was L-U clatter so I replaced the L-U solenoid which made it worse now it tries to lock up all the time [which leads me to believe there is a pinched or grounded wire somewhere - is this possible? Anybody ever experienced this before?] I unplugged the L-U solenoid and VOILA- I can drive normal [ I even drove 1 leg of the HotRod Power tour like this:eek: :D! Can the Torque convertor be bad or do you guys think i should look at electrical problems? TIA

I dunno, mine does the same thing... I'm on my second TCC solenoid (in a thousand miles) and when the tranny heats up, the d@mned thing stays locked up all the time! In order to stop, I have to hand shift to first (my engine idles @ 900). I think I'll buy one more and sand the barrel with 80 grit for a little more clearance!

If you were able to solve the problem by unplugging the connector then the problem is not the converter. You either have a false ground signal from a chafed wire or the ECM is improperly commanding lock-up. Put a scan tool like an OTC 2000 on the car to see when the ECM is commanding TCC.
