longer wheel studs

I want to put longer wheel studs on my 8.5 rear end, I bought 7.16ths 3" long studs that said they were for late model drum brakes, they didn't fit the knurl on them was way too small. Anybody that has longer studs in their axles could you please tell me which ones to get. I would really prefer 7/16ths just because I already have open ended lug nuts for that size.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

12mm X 1.5 studs. I picked up longer ones at my local parts house (Napa).
You might try measuring the ID of the hole for the studs, 7/16 studs come in different sizes on the knurl : Jegs has ARP in .486, .580 and moroso in .472-.479 and .552-.559.
