 I'd sob for a while and fix it. Jump on that free body & frame mentioned previously if you can--that's a hell of a step in the right direction. All you really need from the donor body is the front clip, and you can turn around and sell the tub for money towards paint work/parts (I know, you'll have insurance money but a little extra never hurts). Sorry about your car...

fix it, mine wasnt wrecked but it was trashed from front to rear. I love my car even though its nowhere near being original or stock I wouldnt get rid of mine either. heres mine after taking 11 coats of paint and primer off the hood, two doors, one fender, half quarter panel, total interior, and suspension and a frame. Good luck and that is a beautiful color and deserves to be revived!!!

I asked about this myself when I was looking at a truck with a salvage title....the answer I got was sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get the DMV to title it (may depend on where you live) or that the vehicle will be difficult to resell, but yes also because chances are it's a car that was wrecked then cobbled back together for a resale. Happens all too often.

I dont understand, if it has a salvaged title it already has a title?? There is a difference between a salvaged and rebuilt title.

You would THINK most knew how to tell, but I've met a lot of people that could not see past the shiny paint and near perfect interior and thus fell for it. Then later learned all they really did was paid top dollar for an otherwise lemon.

Why is it a lemon? Shiny paint/straight body/perfect interior is a good starting point! What makes a salvaged car a lemon?

I don't why a salvage title would be issued for keyed paint or a busted column that sounds ridiculous. If anything, a salvage title should only be issued if the car was involved in an accident where the car sustained heavy damage, as what is depicted in this thread.

Me neither......... but it did...............to me.......... I agree on the wreck or damage to get that title, but youll have to talk to the state about that.

Quite honestly I'd buy a salvage car if I knew it could be titled again and if the seller was not asking much for it.

So it is true that it "hurts" the value to some people........... interesting

PooP1186, my point of my previous post is if you like the car, fix it, and dont worry about the branded title. If its fixed right and you ever have to sell the car, most people will not even hesitate to buy w/ a branded title based on the quality of the vehicle.................... and if you plan on keeping it, ignore me!

just my .02

I dont understand, if it has a salvaged title it already has a title?? There is a difference between a salvaged and rebuilt title.

Well, I think what they were trying to tell me is that sometimes when the DMV deems a car not safe to drive ever again due to heavy damage they issue a salvage title, and in some states I guess the DMV will not allow the car to be registered for road use because they think the salvage title means it's just an unfit piece of junk contraption.

A rebuilt title OTOH I think might be different....I think those might be easier to title ONLY if it goes thru a rigorous inspection to verify it's been rebuilt properly....and not just "thrown" together. Again I'm not sure. I've never purchased or owned any vehicles that were salvage cars.

Why is it a lemon? Shiny paint/straight body/perfect interior is a good starting point! What makes a salvaged car a lemon?

I'm not saying it would be a lemon....it could be actually redone right for all I know....but shiny paint and a perfect interior don't always mean the car was "rebuilt" right. What makes a salvaged car a lemon is when it's improperly rebuilt by some inexperienced shade tree mechanic to put back on the road for a quick sale. Corners are cut, not all parts are replaced, there's possibly even "hidden" damage that you may not even know about until months maybe even years later. And it seems to happen all too often.

Again the time I implied about buying that 88 Nissan 4X4 with a salvage title, everyone told me it was a "big flashing GO AWAY sign". But I have also been told if you plan to drive it until the wheels fall off, it can be gamble of a good vehicle...

I would fix it aswell...mine was a total lose and it was hit in the front..a little worse than yours...AAA sold it back for 750 bucks...

Fix It

I love that color, there probably are not many made in that color either. I would fix it and NOT let the insurance company settle low. The adjuster should be able to see that your car had been taken well care of so you should get more then what u paid for...

If your'e intrested in fixing it contact me at 951 623 0881 im in Riverside, not to far from you.I'm in the proccess of doing a board members car now,and you can see a few more cars ive done.or my email

platinumperformance60@yahoo.com Thanks,Raymond

Whether you plan to fix it or not, DEFIANTLY buy it back...In my town, there is a shop that does nothing but repair and straighten frames, no body work..That is what the shop is designed for..Try to find the same in your area..
Just curious, did you have a steel bumper support or an aluminum one ? My T looked like yours after a crash..The aluminum support did nothing but fold in half..Made me wonder if I had a steel support, it might not have been that bad..
If you were closer, I'd donate a turbo hood to your cause....I'm glad you didn't get hurt..

Sure they are, they offered that because they know you know what you paid and they already looked it up and found it was worth more. AAA won't be out a thing as they will go after the other guys insurance and they will pay. By the way, why isn't his insurance paying for this?

YES!!!!! im getting 10k for the car =) they're gonna pay of the rest of my loan witch is 5k ill have a lil under 5k to fix my baby back to norm thanx for the support

hope you kept it,i brought mine with a salvage title and low miles was already repaied when i got it except a ****ty paint from the original repairs.i have been dealing with salvaged vehicles for years and on a older vehicle like yours it does not do much to the value,i live in ct but i registred mine in sc,
if you repair it right it does not matter,i sold a 86 cutlass supreme that i did over with a clean title that was previously salvaged and junked for more than i paid for my regal, sold it for 6200.so to the right person salvage history does
not matter.

fix it!

Fix it up dude! Even if it takes the next 2-3 years, doesnt matter. Get her fixed and back on the road again! My theory: if theres still at least 1 good part, and the car is worth it: it can be fixed. Your car is DEFINATLEY worth it! :D

Let me know, if you'll need a frame. i'll have one from my 85 you can have but you gotta take th body thats sittin on also.

There should be plenty of regular Regals out there ripe for the pickin'. There is an old man that lives in my neighborhood that has a 86 Regal in powder blue w/ dark blue interior. He is the original owner and the car is in really nice shape for its age and the fact that it is all original. He only wants $500 dollars for it and is said to run good. I don't need another car right now and wouldn't have the heart to strip it for parts. Besides that I'm not crazy about dark blue interior...I like gray.

If I find Turbo Buick related parts locally for cheap, I usually pick them up just in case I ever need them. Never know when you will need turbo specific parts. I do have a hood, but wouldn't want to ship it way out to CA from SC. My hood may or maynot be any good as it is.

Good luck and let us know when you get your ride back on the road!

I'm VERY sorry for your loss man...

(this is why I preach.. don't use 'em for a daily driver, for those of you who do)
