Help a dummy out....I don't understand what's going on in that first picture from the last post....All the headers on one side...Could it be a turbo inline 6?

this pic? looks like a belt driven SOHC (single overhead cam) prototype of some sort. all the tubing between the heads is the intake manifold, and there is no turbo on it.

i hope they didn't say that the engine in this pic was run in the car behind it.. a Ford Motor Credit Ford Taurus Winston Cup car that was driven by Dale Jarrett in the late 90's..

it almost looks like an old ford flat head slash hemi slash bad ass buick trifecta of an engine.

I know I don't see a turbo on it now, but I thought with that turbo 6 symbol on there that may have been one in there somewhere at some point. I understand that just because it has the symbol that doesn't necessarily mean it has a turbo, but I can't imagine them putting that there if it didn't have a turbo

LOL....just realized the 3 spark plug wires on the one side  I wish I could take that thing apart....and have someone else put it back together
Esh...and now I see the three header pipes coming from one side, and three coming from the other...I need to look at picture more closely before I open my mouth

i don't see any header pipes. looks like the exhaust ports have blockoff plates over them.
and it also looks like a DOHC setup now that i actually look at it- i don't think that a single center mounted cam would be able to go around those spark plug holes..

definitely looks like a dual over head cam set up. The whole belt system on the outside just seems strange thought.

An inner chain system like the newer mustang cobras use would be stronger and more efficient.

Very cool to look at. it would be great to see inside it.

48#s of boost? wow!

hall of fame buicks

That is awesome. Thanks for the pics.

I thought the headers were on the opposite side of the heads....do they always come on the outside?

I think GM needs to grab that engine and produce it:cool:
i'm pretty sure GM took the lessons learned from that engine and decided to stick with a single cam-in-block 2 valve per head configuration. GM doesn't do DOHC very well, but they make the best pushrod engines out there.

That is true, too bad they didn't work a little bit more on the aurora v8
