Looking at Trailblazers to replace the wifes car, What do i need to know about them?

the kids are getting bigger and already started complaining about the lack of leg room.
I WILL ONLY GET A GM.
I like the Trailblazers and thats what id like to get. But i know very little about them.
Are there any specific models or years to avoid?
Id also like to find a 2WD but would settle for a AWD.

They suck gas! if AWD. Not sure how much snow or how good the roads get in NY but 2 wheel is prolly better & cheaper

I bought an s10 4x4 crew cab and its only good in snow. rest of time it rides like crap & sucks gas outta my wallet faster than Jane Jetson.

we have a base model Trailblazer, 2wd with few options.

As trucks go, it was pretty inexpensive when compared to the bigger ones.

Ours has the 4.2L six cylinder, 4 speed auto.

It has been trouble free since we got it other than a window regulator sticking on the passenger front door, which was covered under warranty.

It has been a good vehicle, and has decent interior room.

My wife has a base model 2004 Trailblazer we bought new. We have never had any issues with it and she loves it!

Tell the kids to quit their whining and get a Chevy Uplander. You can go into a "when I was your age" story if necessary. I grew up with a minivan, so I don't have any complaints.

Only know one family that has one, but they love theirs; and I'm not into SUV's at all, so that's my best input. Family friendly, decent on gas so far as I know, and not horridly expensive. Hope that helps!

If you step up to a '09 or newer suburban you get a 5.3L 6 speed auto (better mpg) and no complaints for room or towing capacity. I bought my wife a '09 LTZ burb loaded out for 34k last fall from ebay, got a 0 down 3.75% loan from a local credit union and she's good to go.

i have a trailblazer ss as a daily driver and the only complaint is the 14 mpg.

it had no problem towing a gn 300 miles and laughed at the blizzard we just had.

a plus point is stock for stock, its faster than a gn!

Had one in today

2002 trail blazer with strait 6 came in with a misfire prob.. Result . When the valve cover seal goes bad it dumps oil into the coil area above the spark plugs causing the misfire issue. If you let the prob go too long it causes the cam sensor to let the engine jump time and costs big money to fix .. Also snow melt and water drips down on the coil area also making it a nice mess when done. Hope this helps

My wife has a 05 and has been good so far. I only had two things go wrong in 45 k -water pump,and a emission pump valve. Oh its very safe has lots of steal in the front frame. It did 14k worth of damage to a honda accord ass end and only needed a grill and front bumper cover

I have a '06 SS 2WD. It is the 3SS model and has lots of nice extras like heated leather seats, sunroof, dual zone climate control, etc. I think the only quirks I can think of with Trailblazers are specific to the SS model. My wife loves it (mainly her vehicle). It is super quiet and very comfortable on long road trips. We've only had it a year, but have put 15k miles on it with zero issues. It gets 14mpg city and 19-20 highway. Not bad for a 4600lb SUV with a LS2 and 4:10 gears. It ran a 13.75@102 a couple weeks ago with a tune and electric fans.

The wife has had an 02 and currently 05. Both were and are 4wd. Had to replace the 4wd actuator in the 02. It decided to shift in and out of 4wd when it felt like it. Had to replace the gauge cluster in the 05 cause the spedo quit working. Both have had the 4.2 and use more gas than my extended cab 4wd pickup. If you have to change the headlight bulbs, its a pain in the a$$. Other than that, we have had no problems.

We're getting 17-18 mpg in the Surburban, 19 if you are easy on it. It has a 6 spd and 4cyl shutdown feature.

My wife loves her 06 TBSS! We average 16 MPG. If you take the time to search and want a TBSS, you can score an 06 with average miles for about $20,000. Maybe less if more miles than average?? It is a great package and the ride is oh so smooth with the standard air ride suspension. Corvette LS2 motor so nothing else to say there! It will also outhandle a GN in stock form. They make great daily drivers. The trans can be a weak link IF you start upgrading the HP.

Not too concerned with the MPG as her GTP is only getting 16 MPG average.
so if the Traiblazer can match that or slightly beat it i'll be in good shape.

i know thw early ones you couldnt pull a head without removing the heater box or engine .i think it was the 4.3

is the SS the only that comes with the V8?
