Looking for new Work boots---whats good

I fainally bought some Doc Martins....a little not comfortable for about 2 days then DAMN - these are great boots. I went and bought a second pair and it's probably all I'll ever buy from here out.
One thing that I noticed that was different about them ( from other boots) is the sole is made out of something very flexible, silicone maybe??? either way, they are great!

Been wearing RedWings here for a little over a year and they are fantastic..They cost me about $160-$180 I believe. The company also will re-sole the bottems when they get worn out, although I'm not to sure on the process of doing that. They are all steeltoe (I think) and Oil slip resistant, But I wouldnt recomend a near $200 boot to be used in oil The leather itself is really high quality, you will not be disapointed

I wear Timberland shoes. They are not BOOTS but they are nice comfortable shoes. The shoes I have are nice enough to wear for work (school teacher) yet I will wear the same pair outdoors when I go camping or anything else like that. They've lasted pretty well too! Was thinking about buying a pair of Timberland hiking boots, but I'll definately try on some RedWings as well. I have many friends that work in construction that swear by RedWings.

Ive been wearing Red Wings steel toes for almost 15yrs now and have no need to buy any other brand.. Red Wings will out last just about any boot that I can think of and when the soles get worn you can send them to Red Wing for new soles for ~20 bucks. That way you dont have to break in a new pair just because the soles have gotten worn.

Lastly... Last time I checked Red Wings were still made in the good ol USA too (unlike 99% of EVERYTHING else).

FWIW.. I work maint at a manufacturing facility and I am on my feet 8-12 hrs a day, 5-7 days a week. Ive tried just about every other brand of boot but ALWAYS came back to Red Wings. I wont even bother with the el cheapo boots that work will buy for me. No thanks...

I've yet to see anyone kick the sh!t out of a pair of boots like I do. I've been through many pairs, and got some redwings. They are holding up better than anything else I've had. Very comfortable, steel toe, durable. I've dented my steel toes in my others, somewhat easily, and its very uncomfortable afterwards. The sole of these boots looks like it will last forever. They may cost more, but you replace them less than half as often, so you end up saving money in the long run. Plus, like someone else said, they will repair them if damaged, so you don't have to go out and buy new boots when they get old. My buddy has a pair of redwings, and has had them re soled twice, and they are in good shape for being quite a few years old. I kick stuff alot at work, and the leather has help up pretty well. I guarantee I would have peeled the other boots leather off with some of the metal I kick around here.

i have been using REDWING PECOS size 12 B for at least 8 years-

they last me about 18 months and i always wear out the tips of the steeltoe because i kick the dirt and mud off before i walk in the door-
i finally cured that habit and they last me 2 years before they stink to holy hell... my pits dont stink but my feet sure do

if you do buy em, tell the person at the store that everyone recommended those redwings and they are suck good boots you got to try em... basically kiss up to the clerk...

i do it everytime and get 20% off .... guess cause i wear the old ones in and say, TIME FOR SOME NEW ONES

My dad is a diesel mechanic and is on concrete 12-14 hours a day. He won't buy anything but Redwings. He's tried cheaper boots, but they didn't hold up and his feet weren't comfortable.

Another vote for Redwings Pecos. Pricey, but well made and comfortable. I usually get 2 years from a pair, and have worked standing for 18-20 hours with no discomfort. Another plus is that they come in wide sizes. Us guys with EEE wide feet appreciate that fact.

Where I worked (untill my retirement recently ) safety shoes were being provided at n/c to employess and more then half the shop selected the RW 1206 style boot each year. I never heard anything bad about them and people usually bought the same boot the next time.

If you buy RedWings, opt for the ones with the clear sole. They have a year warranty on the soles. If the soles have a defect 11 months from the time of purchase, you'll get a free pair of boots.
I've tried all other brands and keep going back to RedWings.
