Im looking for fellow members in the Chicago area who have converted their 8.5 rearends over to disc brakes. I have a complete rear disc setup from a 97' F-body that I would like to have installed onto my Malibu and willing to pay someone with the know how for the installation. I can't seem to find any supposedly "Hotrod" shop in the area thats willing to do it, everybody wants to sell me a new rearend. Send me a pm if you're here or know someone here who's willing to make some cash.

Just purchase a Baer rear disk brake setup from Jack Cotton. It will bolt up and the emergency brake WILL work and work right. I can send you photos if you like. I'm in NC and Jack is in Mass.

ps...I also installed GM B-car 12" front disk/spindle setup and have great brakes.

go out in the garage, take the rear axle apart, then figure out how to make it work..

Im not certain where in Chicago you are but we did the conversion to an GN 8.5 - Im about 60 miles south of downtown.
