I have the factory turbo on and one fin has a small chunk broken off.......does anyone have a ta33 or a better turbo that fits the stock location and is set for hot air? I would send mine in to precision but I'm on a budget right now and very close to starting it since before the restoration in November. It was completely stock before the resto and ran good, so I'm kinda interested in feeling the power gain with all the mods I added

I pm'd bison and he said in order to use the 86/87 turbo I just have to make it fit the intake and tb ....that's it nothin else is needed? I read a lot of post saying you need to switch out seals to a carbon seal or oil will get sucked threw

The later turbo won't directly fit on a HA intake, it's got to have the adapter welded to the turbo to mount it. You can use your old center which is designed for the right seal though, and everything will bolt together.

Ya I knew that but I was talking about the carbon seal

I thought bison said all factory tb turbos have carbon seal.

Dont take my word for it I might have misunderstood Bison also. It doesnt hurt to check as long as you mark it, and reassemble the same way it came apart.

All the TB turbo's are T3 based so the centers will interchange. You can use the center out of a 78 or an 85 and install the carbon seal.;)
Ok so I can take apart my 84 hot air turbo and use the centre out of it with the carbon seal and swap centres with the 86/87? How hard is this to swap?

Go to the how to section and there's a post on how to overhaul a turbo. It's an 86-7 unit but it all applies for the 78-87 units. The catch is that the 86-87 compressor is larger so you'll need to have machine work done, and that's where bison comes in.;)

I am looking to upgrade from my ta33 soon , I have welded a flange on the end of the compressor housing for my I/c coupler to clamp to and ported the housing but could cut off the flange and set it back up to a hot air configuration easy. Was just rebuilt 3k ago by turbo technology. I just need a new turbo first , don't want any down time.

My turbo was upgraded to a TA/E44 size, with machine work my wheel measures out 58mm. I use the factory hot air housing. I had planned on putting a radio in my car, I have no tunes. However, the melody this intake, throttle body, turbo, is all the enjoyment I need. It sounds like a jet engine....then hit the accelerator....wow...

go with a Te-60 .... im not trying to start a war but pm me about rebuilt used turbos from certain people

So this ta/e44 fits on the stock location for a hot air?

they took the housings and made them the same size as the 44 so it appears mine is the same but it is not

Ok remember the pricing? And did u sent a old turbo in correct?

Sent from my GT-N7100 using TurboBuick Mobile mobile app

no, didnt send a core in, had to buy one straight up. I paid next day charges and some other fees. I think 750-800 was the normal pricing.
