What would cause a 2800-3000 stall converter to drop in stall speed to 1900 rpm? I have had more than one convertert do this.

Short answer it's broken and needs to be cut open and fixed.

Trans has nothing to do with it. Its very odd that it happened 3 times.

Can it be too much pressure or a bad circuit? I took the converter out of a car where it was working fine and put it in my car and it will only stall to 1900. And thats with the brakes on, parking brake on and the throttle to the floor.

Ok the rest of the story. If the converter is a lock-up it could be dragging the clutch in your transmission. If its a non-lock should not be an issue from one car to another. Could be that your car does not make the torque the other car did at the same RPM.

Yes the converter is a lock up. It is an orange stripe. I know its not the greatest but I needed it to test and it was cheap. What really gets me is that I had a bad misfire one time (I think my fuel pump sucked up some air) and the stall came back and it worked fine. After the car was shut off and restarted about an hour later the stall was gone. I have not been able to recreate the symptom since.
