No where as fast as you but have about 8000 miles on my 200R4 running in a GSX that weighs 3900 pounds. Best so far is 12.85, should go low 12's this year.

This is my first post on this board, but a while back Bruce suggested I come and check things out.
I always feel like the "lone defender" of the 200 on several other forums, so I figured that I'd see what's going on over here.

There are two things that I have been wondering.

What has the fastest pass been in a 2004R equipped turbo Buick?

Same question but with a conversion/transplant car?

I figured the builders would know what they had running out there.

Thanks
B
Mike Kurtz was running 200's in the 10.00's back in the early 90's...

I'd still like to hear from some more folks with some more numbers.

We went 9.4's in Tweaked with a 200 4R back before there were billit parts @ 3100 lbs.
I'm building a Stage II/Stage II for my car and I'm gonna put a 200 behind it with billit internals. Hope to run low nines on drag radials @ 3550.

Thats what I wanna see..... A sleeper!

I run one of Lonnie Dier's 200's too. Over 3500 race weight. See video in my signature.

For these 200 trans that are going 10.0's or better. What are we talking total cost to have one built?? With ALL the good stuff? How often do they have to be freshened? And what's the cost involved with the freshening?

I would think "most" of, or many (not all Grumpy! ;)) of the cars that are running these faster times are non lock up units. They are much more durable, as the shock is not as great on shifts as a heavier lock up converter.
If you run a 9in Art Carr or similar converter you do not need all of those billet parts to run fast and be reliable.
I have one customer that has put down nearly 300 passes this year (2006) :eek:that is a bottom 10 second car, with a 5 disc Vig. It took out the clutches in the converter 2x`s, but the trans is going strong.
Another was built by my partner many years ago, with no billet parts, 694 servo, Borg Warner clutches and band that ran 10.20-9.8 6 years without freshening driven an hour to and from the track.
If more guys were willing to run non lock up converters I`m sure there would be more mid to low nine second 2004R`s out there. People think 400`s are the answer... give up the lock up and you will be better off in cars that run these times.
Just my thoughts, Brian

Not sure on the durability, but the cost is gonna be in the $3500 range  All that billit stuff aint cheap!!! (but atleast I'll have my overdrive) My trans builder told me he has my exact tranny behind several twin turbo vipers for everyday use. He told me mine would last behind my little V6. (274 c.i. w/Stage II heads) I will hopfully have some feedback in mid Feb.
