LS1 Remote Mount Turbo

Just picked up the Nov 04 edition of Popular Hot Rodding. The Have a 02 SS Camaro with a remote mounted turbo! The turbo sits in the back of the car where the muffler normally sits. Hard to believe, but they say it works. Baseline HP 313.7 PSI and 463 HP 511 torque. System provided by STS Turbo Systems, UT. Only $4,000 for the system. It has the BOV. Oil feed line and a 12V pump to return hot oil from the turbo back to the engine where it dumps in to the valve cover. They say it does not need an intercooler becuase of the length of the HPC coated intake tube.
Runs at a base of 5PSI with 7 or 8 optional. The higher will have to have methanoll injection. Turbo lag is handled with specialy designed components.

pretty awesome numbers, and the vids ive seen and the people ive talked to that had the set up say that turbo lag is barely there and in the mean time you still have the low end grunt of the ls1 to get ya goin and spool the turbo

With the turbo 60-1 hifi it has almost no lag, I install these kits and my Buddy is hte dealer for them.
EVERY one needs to be professionally tuned (IMO) to best resluts and to make it safe
With the methanol injection and 8#s of boost it mad 476 RWHP
with only 14* timing and an 11.0 a/f ratio
We didnt push it because of hte stock pistons
He will be at The EFI shootout at etown next week after i do new valve springs,He is not much of a driver and a big guy, so i am not sure f we will gwt good number s or not

Works great for my truck

My first turbo had almost no lag (GT35) but on my larger GT67 .81 A/R I have a decent amount of lag unless I brake stall it or go from a 30mph+ roll.

110mph at 5250lbs I HAVE to be over 500rwhp on this 5.3L

From what I understand the people who developed the kit are in my neck of the woods and I guess he runs decently, last I heard he was trapping 110mph

Actually STS is based in Orem, Utah.

You might be thinking of JL Turbo. They helped beta test some of the kits maybe but they defiantely didn't develop them

Jeese's LS1 car has went a best of 11.69@120 but has redone some stuff so it should be faster now.
