SignUp Now!Hey guys..
I have been researching on this issue for a few years now. This is for the reason that I have been running Iron Heads for over 10 years now. I have ben told by some Aluminum Head users that on a 109 ( 231 + ) Block, the Iron 8445 Race Ported have made more HP and better ET by .2 to .3 on the 1/4 mile. A few people that I know took off their $$$ Aluminum`s to go back to Iron and picked up what they lost.. WTF is up with that!!!
Thinking of buying M&A`s but I am Debating....
Since I had to take appart my 109, I have been thinking of going with AL Heads, but I am still undecided.
Maybe the TSM Heavy Hitters can elaborate here and tell a story?
For me this is good business since I have been Porting the Buick Irons for 10 years...
Thanks
Joe
I just pulled my ported stock Iron heads off. I was running a 6.39 in the 1/8 w/ 1.45 60ft and got booted for no Lic. & 10.12 @ 134mph with a 1.60 60ft I never got a good 60ft to break into the 9's. :frown:
Now that I have these Alum M&A heads that flow more it's really hard to feel the difference when the tires just spin on the street. It feels faster but I'm not sure tell I have some track times.
the best numbers I've heard on a flo bench for irons is about 220 cfm,
I've heard TA heads produce numbers over 300cfm
My M&A's are over 260cfm.
so it would stand to reason that anything that flows alot more air SHOULD produce more horse power, I guess brent will provide the data to either prove or dispute that theory.
my $$$ are on the aluminum heads to produce more HP
