I'm wanting to upgrade to the Ls1 and translator for my GN. I found this translator/tuner on ebay but I've never gone this route before and just want to get the right thing. Will this work? I emailed the seller and he said that it was for the 86/87 GN. What do you think? NEW BUICK GRAND NATIONAL GNX TTA MAF SENSOR TRANSLATOR - eBay (item 370263961497 end time Nov-16-10 06:57:27 PST)
That plus I'll be buying the Ls1 maf of course.

Why on earth would you buy that from ebay. They are not a supporting vendor. You can buy the same item from the guys that invented it (FullThrottleSpeed.com), get much better customer support, support one of our vendors, and save yourself 30 bucks to boot. With as many posts as you have, I am surprised.

x2. Fullthrottle. Brad

Sure. I'll buy from a supporting vendor. I just didn't have a ready link to the product. So, that being said, Is this what I need? I have seen this, which seems to have some tunability or should I go with a translator that to the layman (me) seems to not have tunability. Someone school me please.

X10... This is the same guy from this thread....

Beware of Ebays GNPOWERMASTERS!!

I even sent him a message in the past asking him how he has the nerve to ask so much for the translators and other items in his store. His response was the typical Ebay fees bla bla BS.... He is banned from here and I'm sure other TB sites as well.

Here is the good stuff....

The Pro is sweet but not so simple... Just read about them and see what is best for you.

It depends on how much tuning you want to get into. You could use the basic Translator, or the Translator GenII.

The basic Translator allows you to use the LS1 MAF, will work with pretty much any chip, and is plug and play.

The GenII has much more features, but to enable those features, you should use it with an Extender chip (but it will also run ok with any chip).

It looks like your car's setup is pretty simple, so you would most likely be fine with the basic Translator.

And, yes, I do carry those in my store. :)

Either way you go.... Buy from the source and save some money... Made sense to me....

Thanks Eric. I actually emailed you the other day about a chip for my new blow through set up and you mentioned the LS1 maf and translator. My new set up isn't going to be as simple as what I have in my sig. I'm afraid. Any help or advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

In your case, you might want the GenII then. The kit I have comes with an install harness, but you might have to extend the MAF connector depending on where you put the MAF. For a blow through, you'll have to find an aluminum LS1 sensor (the ones I have are the newer plastic ones). Or you could use the 85mm MAF with some hose adapters.

Thanks Eric. I'll be ordering it soon. How about alky? Will spraying before the maf sensor hurt anything or should I keep it at the intake where I have it now?
