Well I took a low mile dash surround to a local place that can take a picture of any part, mix the color, and charge a spray can with it. I think the color is closer then any other gray I have tried in the past. The sheen was a little to far on the glossy side but I need more made so next can I'm going to have him take the sheen down a notch. I painted the glove box door and the column so far. The dash in the pics with the glove box door is from a 18K mile show t type. I just painted the glove box door. The column is in my 100K plus GN. Hard to tell with the flash but what do you guys think? Darker? Lighter? Strange how the horn trim ring shows up really dark in pics.

Jim,

One suggestion is to apply it with a detail gun (assumes you have a compressor). The detail gun has enough adjustibility you can lay it down dry and get a little more matte finish.

years ago when I did that we had a "Flattening agent" we could add to the paint to a desired sheen

I wish I had a compressor! I do it all the hard way! The nice part is this is in a rattle can. I'll have to have him knock the sheen down a touch. I was happy with the color match.

Jim,you going down to wilwood on saturday! I`m not sure where the hood is anymore? I know where I once lived (OC) is a hood now!

I am going to Wildwood but not with the car FlyinGN wanted to take the daily driver down just to see the cars so I'm gonna ride shotgun with him! :) Hopefully within the next few weeks I'm going to get another can of that paint made up he printed out the code sheet for me to take back to get the same match so if you want I'll get an extra can made up for you if you want one.

JIm, You'd be amazed at just how small a compressor will run a detail gun. A little 2HP would probably be enough. COuld pick it up on craigslist for the cost of 2 or 3 of those cans of spray paint.

In fact you inspired me to write up a little Compressor How to I've been mulling over.

Yea I was going to buy one of those pankcake ones to play around with but with 3 garages in 3 locations I'd be dragging that and all the stuff I need around to much. I try to keep it small and easy! lol One of these days I'll buy just one place and have everything there! Make sure you link your write up!

Jim, Im interested in a can. I will be going down Thursday night or friday. I dont think Ill take the car down (chance of rain)
