Usually by car people we see something mickey moused it is usually an item that has been rigged, butchered or just plain screwed up. It may work but has that I am a crappy and don not care attitude. This may include wires wrapped together with tape on them looking like teepee. Or using house wiring nuts to wire two items together with the same tape in a teepee. Using duct tape for wiring rather than electrical tape also wrapped in the same teepee arrangement. Using coat hangers to install a brand new or junk yard exhaust system. These types of items would be considered mickey moused. Lights or switches just hanging from the dash board that turn the blower fan off or on. Ignition switch replaced with an autozone special switch for a lawn mower. Yes I have seen and worked car vehicles with these types of items. Hope this makes sense of what mickey mousing something is. I have more examples and this does filter over the IT world also.
