Has anyone ever used these on a daily driver?

I have a chance to get a deal on them but I am a little leary about daily driving them, especially if I get caught in the rain!

The current owner says they fit under the car on the stock rims just fine.

Any comments, please!

Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tires 275/60/15

TIA
Chris

I have used them in the past, not much rain here in Arizona, so I dont know with respect to that, I do know that the wear EXTREAMLY fast. 2,000 miles and mine were shot. I run the Nitto 555 for that reason

They will fit under your car.

They will not last long under WOT blasts.

They will slip n slide in the rain.

They will hook better than any other street tire you can find.

Thats about it.

They are awesome tires. I daily drove a set through their entire lifespan. This included a period where I would drive a 100 mile round trip every weekend. They lasted a lot longer than I thought they would.

It doesn't rain much in Southern California so I didn't test them in the wet too many times. The few times I did I just took it easy and everything was ok. Avoid puddles.

The launch traction is incredible, almost as good as my slicks.

I've been caught in the rain with them:eek:
Not as bad as driving in the snow with street tires:p
Read the weather report before you leave the house.
There made for dry weather if you got a beater car use that on bad days
people say 5000-8000 max miles with not many burn out either
There made for dry road traction A compound rubber

agreed and they won't live long, I would guess 5000 miles max

GREAT tires but I wouldn't want them on a daily and I wouldn't want to drive on them in the rain. I'd say keep them for weekend cruising and hunting, and go with a different tire for everyday driving. BTW, I run the same size tire on one of my GN's and yes it will fit with the right backspacing.

I have these on my driver and I like them.
They are very soft and pick up lots of stuff in the street.
I found a drywall screw in mine today.
Damn year long construction project across the street!

You should go over to the construction site and use your electric drill to screw a few into their vehicles tires so they can see what its like to deal with some other jackasses carelessness. I had 2 damn nails in the same tire within a 2 week span. They actually punctured within 6 inches of each other.

Chris,

I got caught in the rain with mine and had no problem, just take it easy. On the other hand they are great when the road is dry, exspecially if you are having issues with traction on the street. Your combo looks similar to mine, I don't think that I will run another tire during spring - fall. I have the stock wheels and tires for the winter time... oh they spank the nitto's at the track, that was my last set of tires on the car, I could not get the nitto's to hook.

Chuck

Cris,
Go for it you'll pleased at how well they hook. I have gotten stuck out in the rain a couple times never had a problem just have to take it easy. The only word of caution I have is you might want to get something to protect the paint on the lower quarter as they do like to pick up a lot of sand, pebbles etc with how sticky they get.

Get them.. I have a set and never had an issue with them... as for the rain.. my brother.. this is a true story. and i know some will say im insane, others just straight out stupid... i just like to see myself as a risk taker, a dare devil if you will. I drove my car from Los Angeles California, to Colorado Springs Colorado on M/T's... Now there is a reasonable explaination for this... not only money was an issue at the moment, but also time. i needed to get to colorado. i didnt have time or much money to spend.. but anyways, in my little road trip, once i hit utah and colorado, it was nothing but up hills and a bunch of curves.. never had a problem with them.... Any body that lives in colorado can tell you the weather changes faster than a baby shi*s on his diapers.. ive been in the rain and a little bit of snow with this tires.. there not the perfect tires to be on that type of weather.. but if you take it slow.. they will do just fine..... all in all , i dont think its on the tires capabilities that should be questioned, but the drivers capabilities. sorry for the long response..... oh jsut incase you were curious.. its roughtly alittle over 1200 miles one way.. cant remember the exact number. i think it was between 1200 and 1600miles....

I love them, would not leave the house without them. the only problem as stated above is my 1/4 panels on my TTA are getting sand blasted, buts it worth it. I was in the rain with them for over 100 miles they were fine. Just do not apply boost!!!

.

How long was the lifespan?

How long was the lifespan?

I couldn't tell you exactly. My ODO has not functioned in quite some time. I will tell you that it was significantly more than 8000 miles though. I still have the tires, they are just about bald at this point. Without hard WOT blasts and burnouts I think they will last awhile

My best guess for my tires would be 15000 miles. Their wear started to accelerate dramatically when I added nitrous to spool my turbo.

It should also be noted that I only took these tires to the track once. I normally run a set of ET drags at the track. So I never really did any burnouts with them. Just hard WOT street blasts and a lot of freeway miles.

I had these on my 11sec camaro & I use to murder people on the street.. But once they start to go get rid of them, You get alot of rearend travel on the freeway... & the rain is no joke.. :frown:

Post said ET streets
I thought it said MT DR's
Lot less groves in the ET streets
