I wanted to know how many guys in this thread have really run 10.50 or faster on a 109 block. I know a few people like Jason, Orlando, Geno. How many more than just these guys?

I have been in the low 10.60's at 125mph with Iron heads, 205-210 club cam ,and a PTE63-4bolt turbo.;) 30PSI of boost....

If I ever get it back on the road I will be shooting for bottom 10's with my new combo.
Good luck,
Matt

i havent lauched the car that hard yet ut im making that kinda power on a stock bottom 109 block

127 mph and 3692# in the 594 hp range at the crank and its not turned up hard yet..

I can think of a couple of TRs in Miami that have run faster than 10.50's with a stock 109 block. I know Roy Garcia (aka as Boost on this board) ran 10.30's or so @130+mph and his engine builder Laz has run 10.50's @130mph with his TR from what Alex has told me. Also, Nashty (Roger Davis) has run 10.25 @131mph and Ted A. has run 10.30's @130+mph...... To tell you the truth there are a pretty good amount of guys on this board that have been 10.50's or better and many that are damn close or have the mph like Reds!!!:)

There is a thread in the Florida section I just saw about a 9 second stock block GN in Florida and Cal (HighPSI) said that Bill from Champion ran 9.77 with a stock block, crank, and pistons and without a girdle:eek: That is the fastest I've heard of so far with a stock block!!!

Bill did it with a TH-400 and a 9" Ford rear-end. The latter of which is illegal in TSM (assuming that has something to do with this thread).

Dave England also made about 3 passes in the 10.5 zone or faster during TSM racing on Saturday at the Nationals.
I've only made one pass where I launched my car hard with the new turbo...time is in signature.

Dave and I both will be at Norwalk on Thursday trying to better our bests!

Incidently, I've been told that there will be even more cars competing in TSM next year...several more:cool:

local racer with stock "109" block, stock crank/rods and JE pistons with ported iron heads, ported lower intake, TE-63 turbo, 9" 4000 stall AC convertor NLU, 55lbers, FAST fuel management, with 25psi
ran a 10.40@128mph best. Most runs were in the 10.50-10.70 range everytime he went to the track.

Weight is a major factor in abuse of parts IMO. Get aluminum bumper inserts or fiberglass bumpers to shave off some weight. Also a fiberglass hood is a good idea as well!

GNX7

If I had Red's setup in my car I would be seeing 137mph+ in the 1/4..... just because of the weight savings. Plus .29cd aerodynamics vs. the Regals brick body would help I'd think.

109 Block

See sig. Hope to see some improvements with the new torque convertor next time out. I have about 26 runs on the motor so far, and the oil has come out clean every time and the pressure has not changed. Head gaskets seem to be holding very good so far. All I can say is I give the credit to VP C-16 fuel. It, (to me) is exiting to make the HP with a 109 block and turbo crank.

Scott 231, I am considering using the motor in the race car to build a TSM car, but I don't think it's going to happen next year. I like the class, but my car as of now doesn't fit in, so....

Let's see, you have 2 replies from guys that have actually gone 10.5 or faster.......

what are you looking for?

it can be done......but not much

I've been 10.65 @ 125 at 22lbs with a smaller turbo-PTE54. I'll be turning it up at Bristol:D I'm sure theres a 50 in it. I should have a bb70 and more convertor next year.

10,58 @127 will be goin faster when i get it togather making some changes.Ill see all of you in morocco

Thanks everyone for are your replies. My Goal is a mid 10 with a 109 block for now. This is until I build a Stage II or the new Alum block.:D

If you are going to sink $15,000++ Grand in a stage motor/setup, why spend the extra $4,000 in a 109 then blow it up?? Most people build 109's to run in the 10's because they cant afford a stage motor.. Just looking at the big picture.;)
Good luck on what ever you do,
Matt

Best of 10.28 at 130.75, but consistent 10.50s. I only push the car when the weather is right. Less stress on the motor and combo. It can be done, but like most have said, do it wisely (and not too often). ;)
Good luck.
Erik
