In a real full weight street car (3720lbs+) with driver.

Personally I like the statement "I'm building a 9 second stock block" myself. :) I think there are less than 10 in the country.

How about 10.82@126.3 with a sorry 1.65 60ft last week. I should be a member of the mid 10 sec club once I get these quick time pros mounted up:D

That keeps things in perspective

I agree with Neal many have no idea what it takes to build one. Like spending countless hours fitting the headers because close enough won't get you there.
I can't wait till I catch up with Louie not only a 9 second stock block but his car is beautiful while doing it. I personally haven't gotten that far yet still chasing bugs and looking for more HP. Keep working with me Louie maybe it will rub off by Reynolds and I can get looking as good as yours. I also agree with Louie's statement that there are many times when that 11.50's car is more fun than a broken 10 second car.

i ran a 13.5@101 in a stock car with no traction....if i get slicks then i'll be in the high 9's;)

The only way I'll ever have a CHANCE to get into the 10's is to move to sea level or have the track shortened to 1000'. :(

I am glad that I motivate you to start threads like this. Its one thing if the guy posting has no clue of what it takes to run mid tens. I have been running that since 94. I have built several other ten sec cars with the same combonation and same program for the DFI. THey have all produced 10sec timeslips. I have never built one yet that has not met those standards. A couple board members bought them off of me and are very content with their cars. If you own and drive a 10sec you know what they feel like. The car has not been tracked but it has had c16 with about 24psi on it with a sticky tire on the street. Every year I will buy a shell and put this combo into it and unload it after its complete and fresh(its a timepassifier for me and I enjoy it alot). On my website http://www.qsquared.com/carsite/87TwinTurbo.html you will see a 9.52 twin turbo Buick that was built by Precsion from ground up, then it was backhalfed and tunned with bigger injectors by Anderson and ran in the 8's. You can also see my white T-type on that very same page when I had my 800hp StageII motor in it that also made very good power with the PT88. So I am well adversed with what it takes to make and drive a 10sec car. I completely understand your point of view, if I have not done it before or know what one feels like when I drive it. Hopefully that clears up a few things for ya. I would edit it because I do understand your point of view but this site doesn't grant you that, so I can't. But the car will run those numbers. PM me if you have any further questions in regards to the car.

10.58@128 with a TSS setup
9.63@143 with a Stage 2 TSO setup
You think 10's are hard try getting in the 8's:eek:

See my post, I'm in
See the Noble Oklahoma results from last year.

IMO I had to build the car for the 9s to stay together in the 10s.
I will say some of the cars on here may run in the 10s maybe and just once. Staying together is another thing

I have a gentlemen that is buying my car for the simple reason it runs tens, is documented running tens in the publics eye and is still running. I think he was tired of the ten wanna bes".

I haven’t been to the track yet, but I'll be happy with mid 12's. I have a friend at work that can't stand American cars and he bet another co-worker that my car would be lucky to be in the 13's. However what the hater does not know is I raced the guy who he bet and I walked him. He has a 96 trans am with some mod's and he ran a 13.9. I hope I have at least a second over the quarter so I can help him collect the $50 bet.

10.57@127.1 mph on a bone stone short block and Champion iron heads. Only 25 lbs of boost. Car runs 10.90s-11.0s all day with just 20lbs of boost. :)

With your combo mid 12's should be no sweat.

ttypewhite:

I respect you for having the balls to defend yourself. BTW You're ad is what motivated me, not you in general.

The whole point on me posting this topic is because of the trial and error it takes to make these cars run the numbers. Like I said I've had a "10 sec" combo for years and couldn't go faster than 11.20. I put together a 10.0 combo and run 40's all day long. Like Dave mentioned positioning the headers for hours because it has to perfect. Or spending an a$$load of money when you thought you were done spending. These are two examples, but I can sit here all day and come up with more. I guess I kinda take offense to someone advertising that they have mid 10 second car and haven't been to the track.

Similar setup to yours ,,SOOOO I think I can get a 11 out of her,,,you can prolly get a 10.56 out of her,,,does that count

I think the whole point of this thread is...........ITS NOT A 10 SECOND CAR UNTIL PROVEN!!
It could be considered FASTER THEN STOCK,(because of the parts) but thats about it.

If ttypewhite claims it is, and you are interested in the car i would pay for his race fuel and go with him to the track and see it do low 10s with a race tune that he claims, and if it does not then get your money back for the fuel etc.

Just a thought when buying an expensive car.
No flames intended for ttypewhite.

:)

By the look of his combo it SHOULD run like he says. JMO.

Especially if he's not a TR novice like myself:o

No flames to you as well Mike, but you fall in the same boat. Yes you have run 10.57 @ 134 with your OLD motor, but you have a new shortblock in the car. Yet you are selling your T-type for $8000 more then I am asking for mine and you have yet to show that this new motor will run 10.57@ 134 as you have advertised in your thread of your car. Is that not the same thing??? Sure your car should run 10's but it hasn't with this new motor. With everything being the same as the last time out, you should run give or take within a tenth to a mph of your previous best. Thats the point I am making here. You as myself are not new to the game, so I would never base this on one day at the track as you say. There are many of times you yourself have went to the track prepared and had issues that you never saw on the street but it appeared at the track. One day at the track justifies nothing if circumstances out of your control happens, which does from time to time in these 10sec cars. The last car I sold I posted the same way, and when the new owner came down to take it for a rip, it was more then enough to satisfy him. I never tracked that car, and the new owner did, and ran 10.70 @ 128mph with a bad sixty foot. After tweaking it more and adding to the setup, he ran 10.38 @ 129mph. I know this because now he has become a very good friend of mine and we keep intouch. I am proven, my setup is proven and there is nothing more I am willing to add to that. The car is absolutely MINT in the door jams, undercarriage, paintjob, under the hood etc etc, and the price of the drivetrain alone is worth more then I am asking for the entire car .So why pound on it when you know what its capable of? If you know cars, you know that with the mods listed it should be capable of those numbers. And with a proven mid 10sec tune with the exact same setup the rest is just da sah voo.
