It's my twisted sense of humor, All us mechanics have it & what gets us through the day. My favorite targets are the youth. They have so much to learn, Don't realize it & most amusing. I learned it from hanging around AK Millers shop in the early 70's.There were several old guys working there all Bonneville record holders & were playing with turbos long before anyone else thought of it with automotive applications or anything else that would roll in the door. AK being the most cantankerous & they would take turns picking me & were devout Ford guys . Anyone owning a Chevy showing up there was in trouble. Didn't matter how much you wanted to spend, Money didn't seem to matter. All that mattered to them was the entertainment value. So I wanted to learn as much as I could & that was the price I had to pay. My customers/ friends that I help have it a lot easier that I did.

I knew Ak back in the '70's too. A little later than you did. At that time, I had a boss 351 mildly modded by the previous owner. Hooker headers and a carb if memory serves me right. Whenever the 351 cleveland got to where it didn't sound just right, off to Ak millers I went. Every time that I went in there for something, the bill always went up a little more than the previous visit. They always got me for a dyno tune, re-do the distributor on the Sunnen distributor machine, and generally dial in and re-jet whatever incorrect Holley double pumper I had on it at the time, and that car always ran wicked when they were done with it. I probably visited them maybe 4 or 5 times with that car for them to dial the carb in or fix something. The last visit that I made with them was with a 500 cubic " stroker in a '73 Ford Torino. They got me about $500 or so for the visit, and the car just ran great. That would have in about mid '80's or so. Unfortunately, both Ak miller and Jack Lufkin, Ak's right hand man and service manager, have long since passed away. They were both 200 or 300 MPH Bonneville record holders and great people. They also ran at Pike's Peak several years and won a few times, I believe. I did not realize how much I missed them and missed visiting them and Leonard, their dyno tuner, until Lou brought up Ak's name.

Gary, so you know what I'm talking about them being Ford guys. They had two shops one with the dyno & the other for turbo installations & fabrication.Along with AK there was Burke LeSage & Bill Edwards. All grouchy old ball busters but they did know a lot about turbos. What inspired me to become involved back then I got my ass handed to me in my 69 Vette by a 72 green pinto. It had a AK Miller sticker on the side window which led me to their door.

papa Lou
were have you been we miss you here in dana point......
How nice, this must be Lou appreciation week. But much more must be done to heal all the years of abuse & disrespect suffered at the hands of the southwest section criminals. Perhaps some of your famous pizza & wings can help sooth the pain.

KFC is the holy grail, What makes me nervous is the fact you still have a drivers license & are out there on the loose.

Tim: Don't fret, Tim, Lou only wants birds that fly, not the other kind.

Perfect segue for a shameless nutt hugging plug....

This Chicken has been flying high and fast ever since I had Lou Czarnota install this non-stop Czarnota Buick V6 in my GN.
Over 30,000 hard driven miles, countless kills, and not a single problem related to the build.

I'm at a loss for words, Tim, so I will just have to leave you alone to your nut hugging. Enjoy.

I personally killed and cleaned three chickens a bit ago....looked and looked...no nuggets...wtf?? :)

I'm halfway around the world in Hyderabad, India...and I still felt the need to protectively cross my legs ...
:frown:
