Hello. I have a 208/208 cam from the old Modern Muscle. Anyone else have this cam or experience with it? If so, how do/did you like it? I heard from a source that it is “noisy” I do not exactly know what that is suppose to mean, but listening to my valve train, I cannot really determine if things where quieter before or not. I just may be paranoid, or things may just be easy to heat through the covers. If a cam really was noisy though, would that not mean that there is excessive clearance between parts and make tons of noise though?
Thanks for your input.

I ran a 1txb cam, by Kenni-bell, it was a 208 208, which is probably the same cam sold by MM. The car liked it, but, it was "noisy." Apparently it wasn't an isolated incident, being noisy:rolleyes: I don't know for sure why, but i assumed it was how the lifters "slapped" the cam on the "downslope." Eventually, i tired of the noise and changed to a 204-214 eldelbrock cam... I like it better. Setting the cam up a couple degrees advanced, or retarded, may or may not change things/noise, but i didn't try it.

There's a 208/208 in my Daughter's T also. We know the specs on clearances and settings are correct, but there still is a littel valve train noise. Not loud, but you can hear the difference between it and others.
Just the nature of the beast I assume.

Cam's been going strong for several years now.

I'm kind of glad I checked this post out. I hear a little noise from my valvetrain ever since the Comp Cams 206/206 and CC 980 spings were installed. I was worried something was coming loose already.

noise

More aggressive ramps on the lobes--stiffer valve springs--steel gears on the timing chain--all contribute to valve train noise.

I had a KB 208/208 cam and it sounded like a noisy sewing machine... did pull very nicely though.

I had the comp cams 212-212 in mine and it was noisy too, but man it pulled hard. Well worth the noise!!! Frank
