I work in the monster truck industry, and after watching people mess around with the mechanical fuel injection that we run and learning how it works, I got to thinking...

Would it be possible to add a boost referenced mechanical fuel injection system running meth in a direct port configuration?

I would not only be using this to use meth for it's cooling properties, but also as the main fuel. Basically it would be like the guy on here that has the dual stock fuel systems hooked up, except the secondary system would be a mechanical fuel injection system running 100% methanol.

The stock system would take you up to 5-10lbs of boost, and then it would either drop out, and the mechanical system would take over, or they would both run at the same time.

Now before I go getting jumped, in a WOT application a properly set up MFI system will be just as reliable and predicable as EFI.

This is just an idea, so I have not done much research, but figured I would throw it out there and see what ya'lls experience with MFI is.

Absolutely it can be done. Issue is cost vs benefit. Given the current level of performance attainable with current systems on the market, power handling of the 109 block, etc.

Do it, with your background you'd be a great candidate to pull it off and then give others an option down the road. I'd think you'd use it with the 93 for a BTU bump but Don would be the Professor to ask in this subject.

Someone had to be the first GN to try Meth injection and now look, we're all recommending it like it's a necessary mod.

I've read some bad things about mixing a high percentage of methanol to gasoline. It seems it sets the methanol into preignition easier. I don't know this personally as I've never tried mixing alcohol and gasoline. I figured if there was any advantage the big alcohol boys would be doing it. They definitely are not.

Burning methanol correctly is much easier on the engine than gasoline. If I were running a 109 block, I would still be running methanol. If you know your stuff, it's much easier keeping the block and gaskets intact with alcohol than with pump gasoline. On the other hand, if you don't know your stuff, it is far easier to break major parts with alcohol.
