I found out today that i might have the most mph ever by anyone with an unrebuilt factory shortblock 134.27 does anyone know different?

I have to work on et though, if my shifter ever gets here that will be good.

I have another shortblock out of a low mile gn that has my bolt ons and should be ready to go in a week or so, anyway i think i have the stock shifter down now.........and will add some rear suspension work for the next time to the track.

Mike.

You may have gone the fastest. I remember some of those guys in the northwest running 9's on unrebuilt 109's, but I don't think thier mph was as good.

I wouldn't expect it to hold up much longer though. Hope I'm wrong. That would mean my shortblock is good for low 9's.

I think you may be mistakin because your sig says 30 over J@e pistons/girdle.

I have done this with all stock internal componants/bearings/rings/main caps/pistons/bolts/rods/crank etc.
My shortblock has never been apart.

I know of 2 others that et better so far.........one in Oregon and the other in Florida........but i have made more mph...........not trying to brag or anything, just happy with what i have done.:)

Mike, I wasn't implying that I'm coming for you. ;) I figured if a stock unrebuilt block has taken you that far, a girdle and steel caps should take you alot further.

did you back up the mph? (same track, same day?)

Same track same day i backed it up with a 133.06, so i do not know if you split the difference or what.
I ran the 133.06 and the next pass was the 134.27.:)

Oh no problem, it would not bother me if you did.:)

I am not going to bother with building a 109 block up, i am going stage 2 for next year if all goes well.

you are making a ton of power with that block......keeping it together is the challenge!

but maybe you'll retire it for the SII?

I ran into a problem with it allready,.......well after 6 years racing on it!

I turned the boost up (greedy) and if you followed my posts i mentioned the problem, anyway i heard a fluttering noise at the 8th which went away, i then turned the boost down to 19-20 lbs and ran a 10.85@125 with a 1.53 60 foot.

Problem i heard was the number 3 main saddle cracking and that bearing letting go.
All other bearings/headgaskets were mint!

I have another motor i got from a low mile gn that was in a wreck and have put my components on it........so we shall see how this one runs........another bone stock shortblock.

Here are the timeslips.
You will have to save them and then enlarge, thats as big as Turbobuick will allow me to post.

Mike, do you think those 3.70 gears are hurting your MPH? Your car is pretty damn impressive especially considering it is a heavy mofo (3680lbs w/ driver I would assume).... Definitely NOT a light weight!

I think the 3.42s or even the 3.23s would be worth at least 2mph in the 1/4. Going by calculaters they say up to 5 mph with the 3.42 or 3.23s.
I used to run 3.73s and broke the ring gear, i switched to 3.42s and did not like them.........but i think it had more to do with the torque converter i had at the time.
That is with me in the car 210 lbs.
I took the a.c. out but added a 6 point roll bar, so it pretty much evens things out, otherwise the car has no fiberglass etc.
Too bad i could not have 60 footed in the 1.4s,but that was simply driver error.
I have 2 days track experience with the transbrake and had to get used to upshifting to gear 2 and mashing the gas at the same time without having the shifter go back to gear 1 on the momentum of the launch............i learned though, my last pass detuned i 60 footed a 1.53 on a softer launch.

:)

Steve,

The 3.70 is a little to much gear for the shorter tires with the rpm range of the motor. Especially since Mike still runs a 200 tranny with the short first grear. Trust me, I made the mistake of 3.90s with 28inch tall slicks.

Yeah I know the one guy down here told me he gained 3mph from going back to the 3.42's (from previously having 3.73's) so that's why I asked.... If I remember correctly he also had a 200r4 and 28" tall slicks so I think you're right in thinking you'd see at least 2mph in the 1/4 if you went back to the 3.42's or even the 3.23's....
