LOL.. Viagra... I'll give ya a call when I'm about 65, so you can hook me up. ;)

I cant give discount, I dont have a manager number. Plus, it isnt really much anyway. 15% for cash pay, and 12% for credit. Half the time I dont even get it when I go in there to pick stuff up, unless its really expensive. Just not worth waiting for a manager to ring me up for small stuff. Otherwise, you know I would hook my club boys up. ;) Us MAGNA members gotta stick together. We'll come up with a gang hand sign or something, and flip it at Mustangs & Imports. :D

Heck, the middle finger usually works on the imports nowadays. ;)

I have used Mobil 1 in our Turbo T since it was new. I have had the turbo (factory) off twice over the years for various reasons and the return line had no deposits in it that I could find.
We run Sunoco 300 dino oil in our turbo'd farm tractors and change it out every 100hrs and there is always a thin film of burnt oil in the return line that we have to flush out. But this is after they have run 500 or more hours and we have to pull the turbos to check the valve lash.

I USE SHELL ROTELLA 5W40 SYNTHETIC

the buick seems to love this weight combo, it revs hard and still takes the heat. this is great stuff!:D and cheap at walmart(12.97 for big container)

Valvoline 10W-40 non-synthetic (conventional) every 3k miles. 11.0's, daily driven, no problems.

The link above goes to the Indy Racing League page.

IRL cars use Alcohol (not Gasoline) as their fuel...that's why crashes at Indianapolis are especially dangerous, because its flames are invisible.

And Mobil 1 apparently does pretty good in Alky cars!

HTH :)
In that link can you tell me where it lays out the info on the alchy/Mobil 1? I can't find it.

On a side note I like to listen to people in my pursuit "drag racers and engine shops". They know these things because they have BTDT. No use wasting good money on expensive Mobil 1 for the Buick IMO because I change it so often (gas, dirt, etc... in the oil) which I have never had any problems with coking, buildup, etc... Besides that I will blow it up or need to freshen it sooner rather than later. Now for my truck that I am trying to get it to last 300k si I use Mobil 1 and change it every 5k miles.

Here you go, Jesse!!

It doesn't say anything about alcohol use with Mobil 1 oil in the crank case does it or an explanation of why Mobil 1 would be the better choice does it?

Well, Jesse...from here on out you'll have to ask Mobil.

The fact of Alcohol Indy cars using Mobil 1...Penske's 100+ wins...if you choose not to "believe" it, that's your call.

OK...it's true about the kendall and alcohol (Methanol). In our Blown alcohol funny car we tried different oils and Kendall doesn't "blend" with the alcohol. After a few hard runs other oils "blend" and the oil looks like frappachino. With Kendall, it stays seperate even to the point that you can drain off the excess alcohol...pretty cool.

To find Kendall, look to your nearest Farm supply store. Most of them seem to carry it.

Jesse: From that page he linked to, look over to the right where it says "Mobil 1.com".. just click that to go to their products page. There you can find all the info, specs, and recommendations for the different oils.

Question: Isnt Xylene an alcohol? Wouldnt Kendall serve that same purpose with the frequent use of xylene home brew high octane?

And you guys using the really cheap oil stuff.. one thing I know is that stuff can be really bad. Most of the standards they meet are the lowest ones, and they just dont contain the addatives that keep the oil together long enough. They'll burn up quick in our cars under hard driving, and cause serious wear. Unless you change them every 2,000 miles.

Q. Isn't Xylene an alcohol?

A.

Chemical Formula: C8H10
Chemical Abstract Number (CAS#): 1330-20-7
Other names: xylol and dimethylbenzene

Xylenes: the mixture of three forms of xylene which includes, meta-xylene, ortho-xylene, and para-xylene (m-, o-, and p- xylene). These different forms are referred to as isomers, meaning that they have the same chemical formula, but a different chemical structure. (Trimethylbenzene)

Not in family of various alcohols.

HTH :)

Hmm.. Ok. Thanks for clearing that up.

I'll bet that stuff could still break down some oil though, if it got into the crankcase.

Not sure about you guys but I am curious to try diesel oil as well. I have been doing my research for the past few days and oil rated for diesels have better everything. They hold soot in suspension longer, stand up to heat better, and generally out perform Gasoline oils.

I am seriously thinking about using Mobil delvac 1300 super 15w-40 in my next oil change. Any one see any downsides to this as it is rated CI-4 and SL?

LoL, I almost brought that up earlier. I use Pennzoil "Long Life" or Castrol RX: 15w-40 in my daily driver 4-cyl in the summer. It runs hot in the summer, and it has 122k miles on it. Oil stays clean for quite a while, considering I only get to change the oil on it every 4500 miles more or less. Pretty worn engine by now, being that its been run hard. I've had no problems running the truck oil. Honestly, I dont think its made JUST for trucks. It's just recommended because of its medium weight and extra addatives. Runs great in my 4-banger beater. For the winter I keep 10w40 in it though. Less chance of turning into jelly.

Crazi,
I was going to use diesel synthetic...Dello... After checking carefully on it, I found that it had too much of an additive...zinc...ash...can't remember for sure? I do remember that I took it back because that one additive would screw up a catalytic converter. So, it might be OK, if you don't run a converter.

By the way, ALL the diesel oils contain too much of that additive, for a converter.

I think diesel synthetic is a lot different then just regular 15w40 truck oil. I would have to check the bottles to be sure, but I've been running it in that little car for years in the summer, and never had to worry about the cat. That cars life is almost over anyway. I'm going to drive it into the ground, then find another daily driver for cheap. Anyone selling anything? :D
