Motorcyles..... Post Your Pics.

The 1098 and 1098s makes 160 hp at the flywheel (1098r makes 170 hp). The motorcycles weighs about 410lb without fuel. Its a rocket with 160 hp , and I rarely use all of the 160hp. Considering it will do almost 70mph in 1st gear.
my buddy has a 2007 1098. he states that it gets awful hot when riding. are there any upgrades as far as fan or water pump that might kool the bike down some? he stated today that the temps rose to 215 degrees and he was getting a little nervous. at what temp is the bike in danger of over heating?

Bad ass bikes.

My stock 365hp '65 Vette with a 3.08 gear will go 80mph in 1st gear, 110 in 2nd and a 130 in 3rd and still pullin. Started weaving off the road at 130 and shut it down. More than once I'll be going 55mph and drop into 1st.

Not bad for a 46 year old piece of glass.

My bike gets up there ,almost 220 degrees on hot days sitting in traffic. At 250 degrees is when you get the overheat message. what cooks you the most is the
stainless steel exhaust , when your waiting for the train to pass by ,your inner thighs will be medium done. Although you do feel the heat off the radiator fan,
it is welcome on cold rides. Imo this bike is made to move and not sit in traffic , actually this goes for all bikes, sitting in traffic bites. As long as your moving
55-60mph coolant temp stays around 180-200 degrees depending on ambient temperature.

Here's my stable. 2 strokers are my passion and I restored both the 72 Kawasaki H2 750 Triple and the 84 Yamaha RZ350. Both have some subtle mods and are nice riders. I also have a modern 4 stroke bike too- 04 Kawasaki ZRX 1200R. 4682141967_6fe5f6105b.jpg Gap 2010 EWH2.jpg

Not bad at all , i cant imagine a 327 could rev so high for a `65.

Yeah, its only around 7200 rpm. Thats not hard for a small journal solid lifter 327. The 365hp is the fuel injection engine just with a Holley.

Its all in the gears. My car has a close ratio m21 trans with a 2.20 first gear. It should have the wide ratio m20 2.56 gear trans with the 3.08 rear, but it was a special order.

7200rpm, 2.20 first gear, 3.08 gear and a 26" tire = 82mph. ;)

OK you guys motivated me to knock the dust off of the Boid and snap a couple of pictures.
1999 Honda CBR1100XX Black Bird
Me saw the speedo hit 185mph and it was still pulling but I couldn't force my eyes off of the road to see what it finally topped out at.

very kool! wasnt that the same motor in the Banshee?

Close but not the same. The RZ mill was a 2 yr only in US (84-5) that utilized adjustable power valves servo controlled in the cylinder port area that opened and closed the valves altering port mapping. At around 6000 RPM, the valves open (servo via mechanical cables to the valves w/ computer tech micro chipping) giving more exhaust port mapping and power. The Banshee motor did not have power valves and was also geared much lower for it's application. Both share same displacement, 6 speed, water cooling, reed valves. The Banshee had a long production run from late 80's to 2006 before production was halted. The beauty of these motors is the power they make for displacement as well as ease of wrenching on due to having less parts than a 4 stroke. I've owned between 35-40 motorcycles in my lifetime and this little RZ is the best smiles per miles bike I've ever owned! Good power to weight ratio with about 62 HP for 340 lb weight. It's the ultimate Deal's Gap dragon slayer bike as they handle quite well.

A 2-stoke 750? That thing must be insane! I had to look it up:

Kawasaki triple - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apparently it used to be called the "widowmaker" because of the poor handling and the fact that it would wheelie on you unexpectedly. And you call it a "nice rider," haha.

They actually handle better than stated. Lots of misperceptions about this bike out there. They do have an explosive hit when they come on the pipe. It's definitely not a bike for the timid or inexperienced rider. In 1972, the H2 was the quickest stock production bike throught the quarter mile. 12 flats aren't fast anymore but were a big deal back then. It's little brother, the H1 500 really ushered performance in for 1969. Those first year white 500's are highly coveted and bring big $ now as well as most all of the triples.

Good thread and some beautiful bikes you fellas have! I'm enjoying seeing all the different types and marques. Hope some of you may have learned something about these old 2 stroke streetbikes which were common place back in the 60's/ 70's and up to mid 80's. I do my part to keep these old dinasaurs alive.

Love the 2 strokes. The h2 750's are awesome bikes.
X2!! I Still LOVE the simplicity and sound of a two stroke!

You have some NICE bikes! Three of my all time favorites! I still own a 99-ZRX11 with 10K miles.

Evans is 100% correct! (Below)
The frames were no where what they are today, and when these bikes come on the pipe, it can be brutal!
Many deaths becasue of inexperience. It was very hard to control the power, especially with the short wheelbase.

Yeah, stock 12's and easy 11's with some simple mods . . . . If you could hold it down!
I would LOVE to have one of these tripples!

Lots of people say this, but actually the Banshee motor is a RZ motor that was detuned as Evans said. The US version of the RZ didn't make as much power because of emissions. And they made them here in Canada from 1980 to 1992.

Scratch that. My memory failed me. The speedo hit 193mph when my eyes became fixated on the road. 185 sheesh I change lanes at 160+ don't know what I was thinking.....maybe 185 sticks in my mind because thats what Honda released as its top speed but that myth has been debunctedded.

193 km/hr, big deal!
