Has anybody swaped type II ignition back to OEM coil pack/module but with DIS -4 add on and ran 1/4 mile and noticed any improvement ? has anyone using OEM ignition noticed improvement in 1/4 mile after adding MSD DIS-4 ? or is it just waist of $800 ? I am using type II right now and I know that OEM ignition have been in 9 's but did multispark MSD idea helped ANYBODY maybe with street driving /MPG/ idle /throttle response or at top end at all ?

I'll let you know tomorrow...I just put a DIS-4 on my car and will be racing tomorrow night...the stock ignition worked fine up until a point...when I started to turn the boost up I noticed a slight miss on the top end...I'm thinking spark is being blown out...tightening spark plug gap didn't help so hoping DIS-4 takes care of it...

perfect:wink: can't wait for first hand results like that :)

Also waiting results. I'm currently running type II, wish red had wires that would fit type II.

the DIS 4's don't usually get a good rep. from boards members that have used them but i'm interested to hear YOUR results.. i would like to know how well the rev limiter works as well .. good luck

I think you might have another problem there. The stock coil can make a ton of power. Have you ohm'd out your coil pack and wires? My car didn't see a bit of difference with the DIS-4 it's just good to have the II step during launch.

Having the benifit of the DIS-4's two step is worth alot. $800.00 worth? Hard to swallow for just a two step, but you can find them used for a lot cheaper. I didn't notice a change either, but launching at a smooth 4 grand is much cooler now and more consistant!

Maybe...maybe not...had tried 3 different new GM coil packs...new wires...same thing...Underboost what times were you running and what boost when you tried the DIS-4?

We have tested this and have not really found significant gains in HP with the DIS4. We have however found it is very valuable in making sure the car does not misfire. Using the DIS4 you do not have to change your plugs as frequently and you never seem to have problems with misfire at the track when pushing the limits. when you add the two step it makes it worth it we feel.

the stock coil pack has been in the 7s with no problems. Remember lawrence Conley's tweaked?

hope this helps.

I remember my friend Eric Schertz telling me that it wasn't absolutely needed on my GN unless I wanted to benefit from the "rev-limiter" feature built into the DIS-4...I haven't bought one yet, but maybe this year only IF Jack (Cotton) recommends me to get one.

Claude. :)

P.S: I was also told that there have been some DIS-4's known to have gone bad in the past...and that MSD has since come out with a newer version...

Whats going on with your idea of using the two coil packs to eliminate waste spark?? I remember about 2 years ago looking on your website and it said its going threw a testing phase and should be available sometime soon. Any word on this?
